How are they packaged?

Hi Janetta thank you for your question. 1 gram is packaged in small glass vials and anything larger than 1 gram of saffron is packaged in food grade metal tins.

My recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon saffron. How many teaspoons are in 1 gram?

I just found this too: One teaspoon of saffron threads is equivalent to approximately 1/8 teaspoon ground saffron. 1 gram of threads = approx 12 threads = 2 teaspoons of threads = 1 teaspoon crumbled = 1/2 teaspoon powdered Either way, I would carefully add one or two strings at a time. They also say you should soak it first in warm water to get the full flavor of it. All I know is that I went by the recipe and it was WAAAAAY TOO much. Good luck

Is this organic and where was it harvested?

I have no way of verifying that it is organic, but the seller, SloFood Group is a reliable company and I believe their claim about that. The same goes for their claim of its origin- they say it's Persian (from Iran) and I believe them. Most of the world's saffron is produced in Iran, probably because it's better. This product is definitely fresher and works better in my recipes, so I'll continue to use and enjoy it.

Is this product approved by the FDA?

Quality Saffron, deep red color, fresh texture, full length and full aroma. 5 or 6 strands in a 16 oz bottle of water is really refreshing. You can add some honey but the flavor is superb in itself. The water gains a Beautiful Amber color too. I keep half a dozen bottles ready in refrigerator for grab and go!

Very fragrant

Mum has cooked with saffron for 50 years and she says this one is one of the best she’s used. Very fragrant and adds an indescribable flavour to many foods not just rice

Real saffron good taste, but plastic packaging.

I bought this saffron because I could not find my favorite one. I was surprised by the packaging that looks like an eye palette make up. I thought it was bling bling and maybe not appropriate to conserve this precious, but volatile spice flagrance. I had bought it to make a paella and used most of the 3 gr I had acquired. Saffron is not cheap so I really expected my dish to be tasty. It was. All is all I am 50/50 because I am concerned by the use of plastic for our planet and especially for our kids. What planet are we living behind us, what future? I think it is time each of us become responsible. I think that a recyclable jar WITH A RECYCLABLE lid would be more adequate. Maybe cheaper too. More professional also. To be honest if I had paid attentionto the packaging I probably would have not picked up this one. Now it is a good saffron.

Not real saffron bad quality and bad packaging

Not really saffron came in plastic container for blush or gloss it should be in a tin container. Item change color in water very fast and did not float I will be requesting a refund
