Phonics: Book 1, Grades K–3 from Teacher Created Resources

This is the only phonics program I will recommend ever since Hooked on you know what became all digitized. I feel this is great for emergent readers, to reinforce, through physical stimulus (writing and coloring) lessons learned. That is something no digital product can ever completely replace. My son, who has multiple issues, is finally getting around to reading. I suggest pairing this with a sign book to teach the alphabet in sign and give busy little people something else to focus on (and keep still long enough to learn) while learning their phonics. I have successfully paired this book with signing to help a child with ADHD and low sight learn to read. The letters are large enough that a low sight individual (with glasses) can use it. The directions may have to be read, but the actual work is plenty large enough. Additionally, it caters on the child's natural want to play by having lovely pictures to color and little games ot help them tease out the sounds of each letter.

This is a thick book full of beginning phonics concepts. I use this book with our reading curriculum to give my first graders a good foundation in phonics. Well worth the money!
