Great for reducing oil and acne. Improves skin clarity.
This bulb is great in that it fits into a regular socket (I use the hanging lantern cord), and is just the right size for me to control the location of the treatment. I use this 415 bulb every other day as my skin is quite sensitive. I started with just 6 minutes and now do roughly 9-12 minutes. I am alternating it with the amber bulb, and I am very pleased with the results of both bulbs. The price and quality cannot be beat (I own several other systems). I switched to RubyLux because I can pick the colors I want and quickly and easily change bulbs. I had been using a 470 nm blue light for skin infections and it does help, however, this 415 is doing a much better job at handling excessive oil besides acne infections.

Seeing improvements after 1 month
Been using twice a day for about a month now. The first few weeks I did not see much difference. The past couple weeks I noticed that when I do break out they are way smaller, less painful, and go away quicker. I use the light for about 20 min twice daily just on my chin area (hormonal breakouts). I will continue to be consistent with it and hope for even more improvement. I am currently nursing my 10 month old baby, so it's nice to have an option for my hormonal breakouts, as I am limited with what I am allowed to put on my skin.

Sciatica, Arthritic, Fibro and all kind of skin problems.
The RubyLux that I bought about a month and half ago burned out. It can get very hot and burn your skin, however, I love its intensity over all other blue lights that I have. I also used the light bulb for all my other skin problems and diseases just under the skin such as my sciatica and muscle problems, my arthritic on my fingers and neck, costochondritis on my ribs. It is very effective in suppressing the infections temporary for a day or two. I was able to avoid surgery on my neck due to the blue lights ability to control arthritic. I also used the light for cold sores, sore throats and sinus problems. 405 nm is the preferred frequency for infections, I used to have a light in the 405 nm and I found it much more effective for infections. Too bad, nobody is making light bulbs in 405 nm any more. Recently, the vendor misplaced my order. I emailed and reminded them. They promptly send me one more bulb then I have ordered. Much thanks. I bought 6 of the 2nd generation blue bulbs and have to return 2 of them due to defects. The two gone dark within a few minutes. The 2nd generation bulbs are a bit more intense but is a lot more warmer. I found the construction to be sub-bar. The lens cap and the body come off easily. With the new $29.00 price, I like the older generations better. I just returned another one of the 2nd generation blue light bulb because the face glass came off and I couldn't screw it back on. These new bulbs are poorly made and the vendor is not happy about returns. I am changing my rating to 3 stars only. There are other alternatives that are only a few dollars more and much better made.

I'm sad to say that I would give it 0 starts ...
Bulb stopped working after 5 weeks (of maybe 1 hour/day use). Also, given the unanswered question about the inaccurate spectrum, I'm sad to say that I would give it 0 starts if I could.

Good bulb for acne but no longevity
Worked great when I was dedicated to using it. Unfortunately it burned out after only about 50 3 minute sessions.

I am so glad I did
At 45, I’ve been having acne issues now for a few years. Something I didn’t have as a teenager even. Ugh! Last year, I had blue light treatment for sun damage and pre-cancerous spots. The Dermotologist told me it could also help acne. And it did! For months. But, it came back on the hollows of both cheeks. CONSTANTLY. I tried topical stuff, as I had before, and nothing helped. I was tempted to buy one of the expensive blue lights, but opted for this cheap rendition just to see if the home remedy would work. I am so glad I did! I expose each side of my face to the light (up close... within about 2 to 3 inches) for 5 minutes a day. Within 3 days, no lie, my acne was gone. I’m doing it now once every other day or so, depending on time, and it hasn’t come back. Long story short, if you have acne issues that nothing has helped, this is worth a try.

Best for topical acne
i've had the opportunity to use this for a couple of weeks... the results of using this bulb on a daily basis for 3 minutes have made a significant improvement in my skin and acne. Before using this bulb, i was using a topical retinoid to control acne, and while the results were good, I still found myself with acne lesions every few days. Using the blue light is quick, convenient, and effective for your skincare routine. It targets the acne bacteria on the surface of the skin (and will also disinfect open wounds and other surfaces). I am extremely satisfied with the quality and effectiveness of this light.

Perfect for testing out blue light therapy before investing in pricier alternatives
This little bulb exceeded my expectations in calming down the redness and disinfecting the areas of skin following facial extractions.
