AMT 1923 Ford T Depot Hack AMT1237 Plastics Car/Truck 1/24-1/25

Challenging and rewarding. With 2 build options available you can really put your imagination to work. It did take a lot of patience but the result was well worth it. Nice detail. Probably not for the novice builder but a great kit.

This is a challenging build. I am used to kits that have more clearly defined "tabs and slots." It wasn't always clear to me where some pieces fit together. There's been a lot of trying to hold pieces together in creative ways and gluing them. Some pieces aren't numbered on the sprues, so you sort of have to pay attention and guess a bit. The paint list seems to list ALL the possible paints, and then the paint actually used in the kit is a subset. I had to go through the instructions in detail to figure out exactly what paint to get. Also there are two possible configurations for the kit (basically a flatbed pickup or like a carriage) and there is only instructions for the carriage. So if you are more experienced than I, this may not be a bad kit. There isn't a lot to this build, in terms of number of pieces, but the lack of clear instructions can make it tricky.

I found the kit an easy, yet satisfying build. The fit was good with very little flash. I chose to build the back (taxi) version. It lends itself to myriad personal interpretations. Very fun.

I have put together many model kits from TAMIYA and ICM. They all had very good instructions and the parts fit together well. This was the first AMT model I tried. I worked quite a few hours on just trying to put the frame together and it was terrible - instructions vague, p[arts not fitting tight, needed to sand or trim almost everything. Needless to say I will not spend any more money on AMT!

This is the first model car I've built since I was a kid 50 years ago. I like old cars from the early days of motoring, so that interest prompted me to try this kit. It's been a lot of fun reconnecting with a hobby I used to do, but it probably would have been a better idea to get my feet wet with a model that is not quite so difficult. The frame itself comes in parts and it's tricky to get everything even and square so the car doesn't sit askew with one wheel in the air! There are two options in building the kit: Depot hack or 1923 T Express wagon. The wagon is a little less involved to make, but I chose the depot hack, because it reminded me of the depot hack seen in the beginning of the movie 'The Black Cat' with Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff! Finally finished, not too bad!

Plastic frame on one side was bent, probably from heat. This left no way to line rest of the car up.

What a fun kit, not for beginners as most amt kits require some fitment and fiddling for a good finish. If you love model Ts pick this one up, quick and simple few day build .
