Used for bedtime reading, 3 years, still working great
The base of this light fits neatly between my kindle and it's cover, stays secure, and provides perfect light for bedtime reading without being too bright to bother my wife. 3 brightness settings, I find the middle one to work best for me. I use a single rechargeable AAA battery, and it lasts for about 3-4 weeks reading every night before I change the battery. A non-rechargeable AAA lasts about twice as long. It is so lightweight I barely notice it is there. I have had it for over 3 years, still working perfectly, is flexible to point light wherever I want it. I hope it never dies on me, but if it does, I can only hope the same model is still available. For me this is a perfect nighttime reading light.

You need this light
I have the M-Edge Capital case for my Kindle 3, and this booklight is just what the doctor ordered. It's a perfect fit, and it works great packaged alongside the Kindle when the case is closed. If you are reading in utter darkness, the low setting accomplishes the job fine. But I often use the medium setting as a matter of personal preference. The emitted light covers the whole screen with no problem. If you rotate the arm approx. 45 degrees above the Kindle, and aim the light down, there is no washout, and covers all the way to the bottom. The battery cover was a bit tricky to remove, but once I got the hang of it, it was easy. The light takes one AAA battery, and I've replaced it once after reading 5 complete long-winded books. A well, thought-out design matched with a very bright light, will keep your wife/husband happy while you read on your side of the bed. I don't know how I've read so long without one. Enjoy!

I like it.
I had the original M-Edge book light for my Latest Gen. Kindle M-Edge cover for about a year and liked it a lot. The only problem was that it pivoted in the middle of the battery compartment so you had to pull it out of the cover past the spine to rotate it. That's been solved with this model. This one pivots at the base of the battery compartment which I find much much more convenient. The intensity of the light on medium and high is the same as the two settings on the older model, which is more than enough light for me to read comfortably with in bed or on the plane and the lens does a pretty good job focusing the light on the Kindle screen. I also like the touch control on this model better than the older one. The older model had a slide switch with the "off" position in the middle. I always found it a little inconvenient since you couldn't just slide it to a stop to turn it off. The touch feature is much nicer. Some reviewers have complained that they touch the controller and change the setting accidentally but I haven't had that problem at all. I usually use it on the medium setting and the single AAA battery lasts a very long time. I read almost every night and it's weeks between battery changes. The only feature I find a little annoying is that after about an hour it begins flashing on and off. I suppose this is to warn you to turn it off so you don't deplete the battery. However if I fall asleep I wouldn't notice it and if I'm awake I'm using it and it's an annoyance so what's the point? That said, this is the best of three different book lights I've owned and I highly recommend it.

Great light for a great value
I love this light. I purchased an M-edge case a while back and didn't think I'd ever want a light, but between traveling, reading in bed, and reading in low light conditions, a light is a necessity. I knew I would get this light because it works well with my case... I don't regret that decision one bit. There are three settings of brightness, the touch functionality works great and it fits perfectly with my case. I don't have any of the reported issues from other reviewers, I almost feel like they received a different product all together! My only quip with the light is the weird notches that are there to keep it set at certain angles. I don't like how cheap they feel/look. If they could update the hinge to be a ratchet type, I think it would match the quality and great functionality of the rest of the product. Bottom line: I'm very pleased, great product at a great price, and I would definitely recommend this light for fellow Kindle users!

Worth the money -- highly recommend this book light
I absolutely love this light. I did some research on book lights (because I guess my life is just THAT interesting) and in spite of some of the reviews, I opted to spend a little more and get this one. Probably mostly because I have the zippered jacket for my kindle and all the pictures show that this stores perfectly in what would otherwise be the spine of a book when not in use. I have to wonder about the people that claim this light is too dim and you can't read anything. My guess is that these reviewers did not realize that there are 3 light settings on this light. The default is the lowest/dimmest setting. If you gently tap the ON switch again, it notches up. Tap again and it goes up one more setting. To turn it off, you tap it a third time. So at some point, these reviewers HAD to turn off their lights and see that in the process of turning it off, it's getting brighter. Or maybe THEY are the dim bulbs? Regardless, the brightest setting is actually TOO bright for me when I'm reading in bed, so for people who like things brighter, I am SURE this would work for you. As for it being touchy, I have not experienced anything like that with it yet (granted, I have owned it for about a week, so there is plenty of time for things to go sideways). It has been behaving perfectly for me, but it is small so I could see where it could break easily if 'manhandled' inappropriately.

Works just fine. It has 3 different brightness options
Works just fine. It has 3 different brightness options, which I like. I bought this to put in my Kindle case, the design isn't the greatest for traveling. It lays down flat but the light will stick out and I can see it getting damaged pretty easily in a backpack/luggage because of this. I don't know how this could be used for an actual book though, as the placer is pretty stiff and would probably bend a paper cover and definitely not fit a hardcover book.

Provides a good light - useful to have two levels of illumination. the switch is a little strange, as you just have to touch it and sometimes it does not respond. Stays between my kindle and case, which is not an M-edge case. The flexi part is quite short if you just move this to illuminate the page, but this does mean it fits down the edge of the kindle when not in use. The whole body does move as well to position the light on the page, which is good, but I'm not sure how this would hold up with frequent movement.

I bought this along with my new M-edge Go! cover and it's great! I love the touch button which you use to cycle through the three light settings. The light given off is bright but not too cold or harsh, just right. The flex arm is a little shorter than the original M-edge white book light and is not as maneuverable as I expected but it works well all the same and casts a good light across the Kindle screen. I think it's good that you can use this light with normal books too. It does not come with a battery so make sure you have some - AAA size. To be fair, it does state this in the description but I missed it. Overall, I would highly recommend this light!

Although I am fully aware this is made for the kindle, it also states that it can be used with books (also states on the little leaflet manual). This is completely untrue, and in no way can be used with normal books.

I had an older version of the M-EDGE e-luminator, bought in September 2011. It did good service until my toddler son broke the central tongue off the "paperclip" connector. I ordered this, and it's not the same: the neck is shorter than the 2011 version, and shorter than the one shown in the illustration at the time of purchase. It doesn't reach sufficiently far over the M-EDGE case to illuminate my Kindle evenly. (See photo for a comparison of the old vs. new.)

My expectations I have to say weren't overly high but I was pleasantly surprised. I also bought the M-Edge Go jacket case for kindle 3G and together these work perfectly. As my husbands kindle was one of the first to be made they didn't have a light which I have to say was its biggest downfall. Now his kindle has a lovely purple case for protection and the light with its adjusting brightness allows him to read and tuck the light neatly alongside the kindle when not in use. Really pleased with this product, brightness settings are a great touch and cost wise it was reasonable.
