Multi-Sharp Reel Mower Blade Sharpener, 16-Inch

Very good at sharpening. Very easy to use. Sharpened a sun joe electric reel mower that was in bad shape. Works great again.

I liked the ease of installing the sharpener. A lot of trial and error adjustment followed by the exciting trial of the blade sharpener in action… Which turned out to be a dismal, complete failure. I turned it all over to a good friend who repeated the test at his place with similar results.

The Sharpener fit my mower. It worked well and the mower works better than it did when I first bought it. It took a little patience to put it on the mower, but it was worth the effort.

I got these for my husband, but he doesn’t know how to install it to the mower. He had some other guy do it.

This worked as intended and the adhesive worked fine.

The adhesive is not very strong. Some contact cement fixed that problem. Making sure the clearance from the bedknife is not too close is critical for the abrasive to stay on the bar.

As long as you have basic knowledge of working with tools the adjustment needed with the lawnmower is easy

Not a huge fan of it - I thought it would be easier than breaking down the mower wheel and using a conventional kit with compound and such. Well, you know what they say about labor saving devices, right? Save five minutes to lose five hours. Now my old reel mower was old but loosening the cutting bar to slide this device in was time-consuming and not fun. I finally got the whole thing on, and then had a hell of a time getting it to stay there. I got it all set up correctly and the adhesive just peeled a huge chunk of the sandpaper away. Lovely. Rinse and repeat. Same damn experience. I could have dug up some epoxy like other reviewers tried, but by this time I was disgusted with the product. I WILL say that the section of the blade that WAS able to contact with the sandpaper got pretty sharp. But some is not all and pulling off a wheel, painting the blades with compound, and spinning the blades using a conventional sharpening kit turned out to be the quicker and more effective solution. I do not recommend this product in the least - why two stars? Again, the part of the system that DIDN'T fail resulted in pretty sharp edges. It just turned out to be more hassle than help.
