I would rate this 50 Stars
As someone who is sensitive to chemicals in foods, I was very upset when Malt O Meal who mass produced Puffed Wheat stopped. The only other product available to me was Quaker, but that had BHT preservatives in it which set off allergic reactions. Being desperated I tried Arrowhead Mills product and was so grateful it is just puffed wheat without anything else. For people who have eaten enough puffed cereals, they will know that some taste burnt and some are light puffed. This comes from a process where one company explodes the grain in puffing by heating the grain which toasts it and another more modern method which uses steam pressure. It is either the heat or steam pressure which when released which causes the grain to "puff". Arrowhead Mills is the toasted type and it is very good. It also unlike the steam pressure or the old Malt O Meal type not as perfected in that it is a bit more crunchy like the original puffed wheat of a century ago. For those with allergies, I believe the toasting makes the product less inflamatory to the body in "killing" the oils, germ and hull which affect many people. The bags are small, but surprisingly one can get around 7 bowls of cereal out of them. The puffed wheat is though like all puffed wheat in softening readily in milk, but as stated the packages I have the puffed wheat has a bit more texture like original puffed wheat. I was quite pleased with this product and hope to have it stocked locally. It was good enough for me to even consider purchasing puffed millet in the future. I hope this helps people in their decisions. God bless.

This Puffed Wheat had made me a favorite sibling
I do not eat puffed wheat, but my very, very picky younger sister consumes it daily. This is the primary grain product she consumes. She prefers that from Arrowhead Mills, but it is too pricy where she shops. So, a simple I gift her 2 cases of it every month in lieu of birthday & Christmas gifts. I have never had such a well received gift & she is enjoying her favorite puffed wheat every day. She prefers this puffed wheat for its wheaty flavor. She informs me that some puffed wheat has about as much flavor as the paperboard boxes in which cereal is often packaged. If you enjoy puffed wheat, this brand is an excellent choice. If you really enjoy puffed wheat, ordering it by case lot makes good sense.

I will not buy Arrowhead Mills Cereal Puffed Wheat again.
I purchased a case of this Arrowhead Mills Cereal (AMC), Puffed Wheat because although I really like puffed wheat, my father really cannot seem to do without it. If you enjoy puffed wheat you will have noticed the general disappearance from stores over the last decade. Food Lion, Kroger, Walmart, loads of local grocery stores (even our co-op) have all removed it from their shelves. I was able to find a great, local grocer that still carried the big bags of puffed wheat but they had other struggles and went out of business. My dad's workday breakfast preferences are puffed wheat, Kellogg's brand Corn Flakes and fast food breakfast anything. In that order. One can only eat so many corn flakes so fast food is increasingly more common for him. Anyhow this all meant I needed to find a reliable online retailer to help his ever increasing nostalgia for something that will not clog his arteries. Enter, AMC Puffed Wheat. First I had to get a replacement shipment for the first one that was "lost in the wilderness." It was just never delivered. No delivery date was ever added to the tracking. Amazon did replace it and 12 days later the 2nd shipment left the warehouse. When the box arrived I brought it to him and my dad, who plays "happiness" in a very chill manner, could not stop smiling. That smile qucikly faded. It was the most stale, unpalatable puffed wheat either of us has ever eaten. Completely disappointing and lacking anything that would be construed as edible. Over time we opened several bags hoping some may have been salvageable. Nope, none so far. In a normal situation these would have been eaten rapidly but alas, he finally gave me the last 2 bags this week and asked me to see if I could find a use for them. I don't think I can feed these to the birds in the park but I'll ask. Otherwise I may try toasting them and adding to homemade snack mix (I hope it doesn't ruin my goodies - maybe we'll just see how the toasting goes first). Yesterday I purchased a case of puffed kamut. I've had it and liked it. Basically, very large pieces of puffed wheat. I hope my father isn't thrown off by the size and gives it a fair shake. I'm sure he will be on high alert after this cereal failure. I would not buy AMC Puffed Wheat again.

Grains too small
Got this because I couldn’t find any in store. Wasn’t exactly the best, the grains were so small like they had been crunched up. I wanted to make puff wheat squares but I didn’t feel like I could use these because they were so little and crumbly.

Just as Expected
I recently had a craving for my mother's special puffed wheat cereal creation. Puffed wheat seemed to have disappeared from the shelves of all the local grocery stores. I was happy to find it on the "shelf" at Amazon. It was fresh and tasty in milk. Even better, when I toasted in the oven and covered it in melted butter and syrup (my mother's puffed wheat hack) it was crunchy and delicious.
