Better than what the bad reviews say
After reading all the negative reviews and others concerns and complaints, I took the chance. I received a good product, by comparison to what others said they received. Used it on 3 uppers in preparation for future builds. Yes it does wobble at high speeds, so go slower. The paste is a good grit for 7071 and 6061 uppers. It took about 20 minutes to get them where I wanted. No issues.

Great Results
Excellent tool for truing up the front of the upper receiver before barrel installation. Easy to use and only takes a few minutes to true up the receiver. I was skeptical at first about this making a difference but, not anymore. I had a rifle that wasn't accurate to suit me. Took the gun apart and trued the receiver and back together for a test. Wow, what a difference in accuracy. From a 2.5 to 3" group at a 100 yards down to a stable 1" group shooting with same ammo from a lead sled. Now, I do this on all new builds that don't have a thermal fit upper.

Use to damage your AR-15 upper receiver
Made in China and definitely horrible quality. The lapping tool has many dings on crucial surfaces that will cause damage to the interior surface of the upper receiver. There are also dings on the outer edges that have caused high spots on the lapping surface of the tool. Reviews posted by other purchasers have noted similar quality issues with the product throughout the years of it being sold on Amazon. Wheeler clearly does not care about improving the quality of this product. If you do choose to take a gamble and purchase it, then you should carefully inspect it upon arrival and do not be surprised if you have to return it.

I'm glad I checked the run out
I can't say that I'm impressed when I received the product with a pretty big ding on the side of it. I'm a machinist who's too lazy to make it himself, but I'm damn sure gonna check it for runout and modify if necessary (I did). I bought one for the AR15 and one for the AR10. The lapping surface on this one was almost 0.002" out of perpendicularity with the receiver rod portion of the tool. AR10 version was nearly 0.005". Probably acceptable on the 15, but if you can make it better and it's already set up in the lathe, then why not improve it? But you also have to think about it. They probably pump out a whole bunch of these parts. If they were all being shipped out absolutely flawless they would probably cost a lot more. Overall, I'm fine with this tool, but only because I checked and modified. However I would gladly pay more for it to be American made and running true to begin with

Excellent results, but DON'T use a drill.
A lot of reviews mention "wobble." The included drill bit adapter is flexible, and I can see where that could cause some wobble if used out of concentricity. That was a horrible design choice, imo. I think Wheeler should have omitted the drill chuck altogether altogether. You're only lapping the surface material to even it up, not machining it yourself out of a billet block. Just use your hands. I did two uppers — a $200 Vltor MUR upper & a $40 Anderson upper — by hand, and it took about 5 min to knock them both out. Doing this showcased that many times, you truly do get what you pay for. The top upper in the attached picture is the Anderson and the bottom upper is the Vltor. Notice how evenly the Vltor upper lapped (because it was already square) and how off-center the removed material was on the Anderson. I've use Andersons uppers several times before, and I've never had a problem with them not working, but this shows you how out-of-true they can actually be. If trying to squeeze every bit of accuracy possible out of a build, this is an easy step to ensure full, even contact of the barrel shoulder to the upper for maximum consistency. Just DONT use a drill.

You need this item, so easy to use
You can significantly improve the accuracy of you ar rifle by lapping the upper receiver barrel flange to true it up. Mates the barrel to the upper receiver perfectly. Also helps the barrel nut to retain torque and not loosen up after a few heat cycles. This is a must do, even on a brand new rifle IMO. When I took my hand guards off and the gas line, the barrel nut was totally loose and spun off by hand. Only thing holding it in place was the gas line, or it would have spun off on it own during shooting. I was having some problems with accuracy once the rifle got hot. Loose barrel nut will do that every time.

OK Quality, Terrible Delivery from Amazon
For the price it's great, but the face that is used for the lapping isn't perfect, but it'll do. The problem is Amazon ships this in a padded envelope and the delivery person throws it and dings it up making it unusable. This is a precision tools and needs more care. I've ordered this twice both times it got damaged.
