I lost my directions. Could someone supply them.

the directions are meaningless, I have an 1100 watt microwave and must cook the eggs for 12 minutes just to get medium boiled, haven't tried hard boiled. Do not follow the directions, experimentation is key.

Can someone give me the height of the thing with the lid on? The Nordic Ware site says the width is 8", but I suspect that is the height. Thanks.

8",is the height with the lid on, 16" is the measurement around the egg. This egg is large. If you can imagine an ostrich egg, it looks just like one. I was amazed at its size.

Is this made from a BPA free plastic?

BPA never was a health risk and its now official: "BPA-a component of polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins-which has been used for decades, most commonly as a sealant/liner for canned foods, has quietly been removed from the EPA list of "chemicals of concern." I cooked my eggs on high for 8 min using a 1250 w microwave and they were only soft boiled!! The top does not make a snap sound. Is it defective?

The top of mine only sits on it, doesn't latch or snap in place. I'm up to 11.5 minutes for ex-large or jumbo eggs and they are lightly soft in very middle (only a very tiny portion) so I think I'm almost where they need to be. I'm at 6700' so I think the altitude is making this harder to get right. Regular eggs are great at the 9 minute mark.
