This was a direct replacement for the circulation pump the plumber installed when we had our house built in 2011. Too bad the plumber didn’t know how to install it correctly even though he had one in his own house. The pump has been really noisy the last couple of years. I found out about 6 months ago the pump should have been installed laying on its side instead of with the circular part straight up. It shows that in the instruction manual. Anyways, this was the easiest plumbing job I’ve ever done. It is so quiet you can barely hear it and it works great. My wife actually thought I was unable to install it because it was so quiet and she had walked right by the hot water tank closet and didn’t hear it. By the way it was a great price. $70 + cheaper than a local vender.

This Grundfos circulating pump replaced the same model from 20 years ago. Easy install and works great.

Was a direct fit to replace my 20 plus year old pump. Easy 10 min. replace, and working perfectly. Great to have instant hot water again.

This unit was the best I could find to replace an older Grundfos model, UP 15-18 SU, which "gave up the ghost" after many years of service (when the internal shaft seal began to leak into the motor compartment). The new model is a single casting in stainless steel, rather than fabricated from multiple parts, and I suspect the coupling between motor and impeller may be magnetic rather than a "thru shaft" (but not sure). New unit has a three prong plug, so most time (30 minutes) in re-installation was spent wiring a three prong (two plus ground) receptacle into the thermostat circuit, rather than "hard wired" . . . better for next time I replace the pump, if I should live so long. Replacing the pump, itself, took five minutes with no leaks . . . couldn't be easier. Coupled with the Polaris 199,000 BTU per hour water heater, we're back with a warm house. Criticism of Grundfos is that they have forgotten that the "user" may not know how to cross reference old units to new units for replacements . . . my selection was an "educated guess", and I was not sure of my choice until I actually had the unit "in hand", installed, and felt the supply manifold go from cold to almost instantly hot with the quiet hum of the running pump.

This was a replacement for a same unit and the hook-up (Undo the pipe nuts, put in new unit, tighten nuts back up) should have been a 5 minute job but they do not include the union washers (yes I looked under all box tabs). Turns out they are not a common item and it took a half day and 5 different hardware/plumbing stores before I found a set. Once the unit was back in it just sounds lovely, compared to the unit I had to repalace which would have been 7-8 years old.

Perfect fit and super quiet. Just remember it dose not come with new ones. Witch i new.

This is an excellent circulating pump for a hot water heater. The last one I had lasted for 18 years. They run quietly and smoothly, especially if the water is soft. They are easy to install. I would highly recommend this pump. The only downside is they are a little pricer than some of the other brands on the market. But you ofter get what you pay for.
