No issues with this unit. I added to a mobo which only had 4 sata ports to give me another 2. I've also bought a second unit to do the same job on another machine. I didn't need the eSata though. Just remember to set it to use internal sata with the jumpers.

I have a new Dell XPS 8500 and purchased this so that I could add my old hard drives. I had just purchases a Mediasonic external SATA enclosure which supported SATA I/II/III as well as USB 3.0. The external box on USB worked great, but I wanted to make sure that the drives would have the best performance especially in simultaneous access since I would be using this for a SQL Server. I decided to give ESATA a shot. I am not certain whether it is running at 3 GBS or 6, but I do know that the useful performance is better when doing simultaneous read and write operations on multiple drives than USB 3.0. In fact, I actually experience better performance on the external drives than I do with the two internal drives using the system board ATA ports. Installation was super easy. Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. Put in the card. Boot the computer to let it recognize the card. Power down and attach the external drives. Boot again and you are in business. It was only later that I installed the drivers. Windows 7 did recognize it and it worked, but it whined about not have specific drivers. I noticed no performance difference after installing the drivers, which was quite painless. The only difference is that Windows stopped complaining. I only have one box of drives connected so I cannot address the issues that others have mentioned, but I am thrilled with this and would recommend it.

Ottimo prodotto, installato in 15 mimuti trasferendo un hdd sata3 con windows 10 installato su scheda madre sata2 su questo controller sata3. La procedura è stata semplice: 1. Installare la scheda e avviare windows normalmente facendo installare i driver aggiornati dal sito. 2. Impostare il riavvio di windows in safeboot modalità sicura. 3. Se il vostro bios è impostato in modalità Ide, riavvia e imposta nel bios hdd in modalità ahci invece di ide. 4. Avviando così, windows caricherà i nuovi driver ahci e aggiornerà il modo di avvio. 5. Ripristina la modalità di avvio normale su windows. 6. Solo ora, arresta il pc e sposta il cavo sata dalla sk.madre al controller pcie. 7. Riavvia e windows avvierà nella nuova modalità ahci dal controller. Voilà windows in modalità ahci su sata3 il massimo da tutti i nuovi hdd o sdd.

I bought this to hook up my 4 NAS drives, JBOD mode. The configuration was a bit tricky, but after installing the latest firmware and drivers, the card is able to work again on JBOD mode. After 8 months and my NAS is running smoothly 24/24 with no problem so far. Will update this comment if something happened later on.

This PCIe eSATA Card do have a 6Gbps Speed with 1.5Gbps negotiated speed. Transfer speed is as good as internal drives.
