I've been on the lookout for organic and high-quality Moong Dal for quite some time, and I must say, Jiva Organic Yellow Moong Dal is quite the find. Not only is it USDA certified organic and non-GMO, but it's also vegan and raw, sourced from a certified organic farm in India. The 2-pound pack is quite a value for money, and the split mung beans are perfect for making Ayurvedic kitchari or any other dish that requires Moong Dal. I also appreciate the fact that Jiva Organics donates one meal to a child in need for every pack sold, which is a nice touch of social responsibility. As for the quality, the beans are clean and cook up nicely. They have a naturally sweet flavor and soft texture that absorbs the flavors of the spices and seasonings I use in my recipes. I've tried these beans in a variety of dishes, and they've consistently turned out delicious and satisfying. One question I had initially was about the organic certification, given that the product is imported. After doing some research and contacting the seller, I learned that the certification is verified through authorized USDA Organic Program (NOP) certification agencies. It's nice to know that the product lives up to its claims.
