Most, if not all, manufacturers of pool water testing kits will warn you not to try and mix reagents between brands. I'm not a chemist but that advice seems to make sense to me. I've been very pleased with the Taylor K-2006 kit and am not going to upset that apple cart by wandering away from their reagents to save money. 2 or 3 times a year I test the water and then bring a sample to be tested at my local pool supply store the same day from the same bottle. I routinely find that my own testing compares favorably to theirs. The product I received on this purchase is legit Taylor and performs as such. Recommended! Enjoy!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I am tired of buying Taylor test kits (especially since they appear to have gotten greedy with price hikes) and not using all of the reagents. I have plenty of test vials from prior kits so I sought out this "refill" size and bought the 3 alkalinity solution test reagents and feel I have gotten a better deal that will also last longer. Well, up to the bottle expiration date. This bottle doesn't expire until April 2027 and its June 2025. This component of the test only uses 5 drops per test whereas the sulfuric acid component to make the solution turn red is a smaller bottle and you can use up to 15 drops in my experience. Taylor really needs to up the acid bottle size or they would be more likely to reduce the size of the indicator solution and keep the price the same. I agree that they are the best available for us DIY'ers and I refuse to patronize the "local" pool supply (name starts with an L) cuz their prices are too high and the employees there usually peeve me off! So don't fool with those inaccurate test strips, these are a better value and you get better results. I know this method takes more time, but this component, as well as all of them, can keep your pool or spa or both pristine!

If you check your pool chemical levels, you would end up needing this. I purchased it after my Taylor kit ran out, this was the exact replacement that came with my kit except is a bigger bottle. If you want the original Taylor replacement this is it.
