This DVD works great! Hooray!!! I can finally watch my Region 2 DVDs! The picture and sound quality is outstanding, although, I should note that I only use it to play Region 2 discs. I still use my old DVD player for my Region 1 disks. I am delighted with my new Philips DVD player!

Not region free at all- in fact, I have a tv series from THIS region that the player refused saying it was from a different region... it's actually happened with several other DVD's as well. THAT aside, it’s touchy and gets caught often w DVD’s that worked fine on other players; if you turn it off mid-way, it doesn’t put you back where you left off, but rather puts you at the beginning menu again; the picture sizes are off. If you want to watch with a fuller screen ratio then you lose menu options at the bottom... also, you have to turn the subtitles off every time you turn it on All in all, I wish my old one hadn’t finally met its maker because this one BITES!

This DVD player worked fine with Region 2, Region-free (aka Region 0), and most Region 1 DVDs that I tried, but it failed to play some Region 1 DVDs claiming the region was incorrect. The unplayables included some TV series released by Sony and Universal. The features are simplistic and there is no A-B repeat, which I had on every other DVD player for years and didn’t realize how much I’d miss it. The player stopped working after 3 years of moderate use. Not a terrible lifetime, but I will be looking for a more fully-featured replacement.

I've had this DVD player for a few weeks now. It was very easy to set up. So far, it has played all of my PAL DVDs without any problems, but it's finicky with the NTSC DVDs. One of them wouldn't play at all--it kept giving me an error message about "incompatible region code." It's not a deal-breaker for me, but just beware that this player might not play quite everything.

I do like a lot. The remote control is easy to use. And been able to play DVDs from other European countries is really great for I have many of those.

My son requested a series on DVD, which is made in another country. I initially ordered the first season, without knowing that it wouldn’t play in the United States. When I discovered this, I thought we would be stuck with a series that he would never be able to view. Then, I discovered that it was possible to buy a region-free DVD player. Problem solved! My kid is happy, and I didn’t waste my money on a DVD that he can’t play.

Im pretty glad Amazon had the player available And also now I can purchase more foreign movies to watch. Yes it does work ok an American television set no problems at all great buy

Actualización Agosto 2024: Ningún problema con el DVD. Va de fábula. Es un DVD compacto de Phillips. Se parece mucho a un Reproductor externo de CDs. Es sencillo de instalar, viene con su mini mando, pilas, conector coaxial RCA (el de los 3 colores( y su manual de instrucciones. El enchufe AC viene incorporado (no se desenchufa). El DVD tiene botones en el frontal para poder utilizarlo sin el mando y una ranura USB. La conexión a la tele puede ser HDMI o Coaxial. Es un buen DVD, simple, funcional, sin pretensiones.

Il lettore ha un menù minimale, ma legge la granparte dei supporti in particolare i dvx, resta il fatto che si può sempre convertire il formato di un video non leggibile con programmi PC gratuiti reperibili sul web, nell'insieme è un buo prodotto ad un prezzo ragionevole.
