Brilliant hobby machine, could be the best out there.
Got mine in Nov 2022. Left my review for a while to see how it performed. Positives: Easy to assemble, most of it pre assembled in box for you. Materials used are strong, accurate and well made, much better than most of the hobby machines out there. From opening the box to doing your first project test file took me about 45 minutes, as all tools needed come with the cnc, everything is labeled in individual bags and handbook and on line resources are excellent and clear. What's it like for a beginner? Well I've found it easy to get going, gone from simple lettering to complex deep carves, from plain cuts to 3d reliefs, all in no time at all. Advantage that it uses standard GRBL coding, comes with Candle GRBL software, on a USB stick supplied and available to download from their website too. It's a lot bigger when assembled than you expect and heavy and sturdy, all plusses for a cnc. This machine is also easily expandable, with kits from SainSmart, so you can go bigger as you need, upto 1m x1m area. Even upgradable to a dewalt router, with the mounts ready supplied too. Their support is great too, any query just ask and they get back to you quickly. There is a great deal of resources and community on the site and Facebook too, well worth joining. All in all I am thoroughly delighted with it, it makes cnc for the hobbyist so easy, but with far more capability to expand if you wish. Negatives: I've not found any, and don't expect to now after having it a few months. Only wish I'd bought the 12 months Carveco software license at the time, as I quickly out grew using Easel for my designs. My best tip, is take time to practice, learn your speeds and feeds and you'll get a lot of joy with it as its a great cnc.

Good product, steep learning curb, superb product support!
The product arrived promptly and well packaged. When I opened the box and started to assemble I noticed a couple of issues, so contacted Sainsmart. I have to say the product support was superb, the gentleman I email (Jamie) was extremely helpful, friendly and supportive, he arranged support for the product and sent some replacement parts, which arrived promptly and without question, I was very impressed with this! and would recommend the product purely from his attention, he even emailed me over Christmas to check my progress, very impressive!. The product is working perfectly now, so just needs me to get to grips with the steep learning curb associated with cnc routers an the various software required to get the best from them. Otherwise all good!!!!!!

It's solid
From what I have seen on YouTube etc, this is a very good starter cnc. If I had any sense I would have bought this long ago. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control I will probably have to wait to actually use it. Saying that, it's a really solid piece of kit. I know it may seem expensive but when add up the cost of a 3018 & all the upgrades, you may want to buy this instead. (I'm not being paid to say this nor do I have any connection with the company)

Good introduction to CNC
Once the CNC was received it rook me a few weeks to get round to assembling and using the CNC. I needed to make some space in the garage and make a sturdy table as it is quite large when assembled. When contsructing the machine it took quite a while to get the base square but once squared the rest of the machine was easily assembled and all wires were clearly labelled with their connections. After watching a few videos on the James Dean channel on You Tube I had my (sacrificial) spoilboard made and was ready to make a start. The motor is keen enough to do light cutting and engraving in pine and ply, I have not tried it on metals yet, but have a trim router waiting for when I am ready to make a start on that. The supplied holder for the trim router is 69mm which is too big for a Makita/Katsu router, but a bit of 68mm drain downpipe with a slot cut in it snugs my katsu trim router in nice and tight. The MDF spoilboard supplied with router deflects a little when weight is applied which means that using the zero offset probe sometimes means the material is not cut all the way through, I now just check zero Z off set with a bit of paper and add a smidgeon for complete cuts. The supplied workpiece clamps are steel and can stand quite tall so you need to check for clashes with the Z carriage as it moves across the table or get some lower lying clamps. If you need to use the full width of the 3040 for a job then you will need to use the tape and superglue method for holding the workpiece, however you are not limited in length on the Y axis as the material can overhang at the back end (with supports) and you can move the workpiece as required. The bed size width limits what you can make and you will probably start wanting to make larger items, and the CNC is capable of being enlarged in the X and Y axes, I already have the 6060 upgrade kit but fitting that will have to wait until I get a bigger worktable. I did have a problem, after 6 months use, the Z axis started jaming up and vibrating heavily, after contacting Sainmsmart the fault was diagnosed as a faulty cable. A new cable was supplied within a week and everything is now working again. The technical help received was excellent. Would I buy it again, Yes, especially as it is not at least £200 cheaper.

Amazing machine, Amazing support
Amazing bit of kit but the support is also amazing. Had the machine for 9 months it developed a fault, after contacting sainsmart they couldn't have done more to help. Highly recommend.

Good entry level machine, that's rigid enough to make decent quality work.
Once I had it dialled in (and reversed the Y axis motors) it turns out some really nice carvings and engravings. The stock motor may be a little under powered for many people but the included bracket for a DeWalt router is a nice touch

Have had this some years now and just written review. There is a newer version which I can't comment on. But this one works well. Can earn money with it but needs time to learn how to use it.

De levering was zeer vlot. Er waren wat problemen met het toestel in de eerste dagen. Het contact met support was super en ze doen er dan ook alles aan om het probleem op te lossen. Zelfs nieuwe onderdelen versturen is geen probleem. Genmitsu rules!
