Very good design and workmanship, but mediocre quality control
This is my 2nd Haxby, I carry it most days. It just a very well designed knife. No jiggle or slop anywhere. The flipper function is excellent, it handles well, and the handle material is durable. I like the flat grind a lot. And the clip is long enough to be secure--not always the case with folders, even high end. * This is a follow-up review of the Haxby. I now have 4, believing I had lost 2 when I hadn't. I am not a Buck fan; don't like most of their knives. but I do like the Haxby. It is like an American Puuko: simple, utilitarian design that just works. I'm doing this follow-up because I discovered an issue with this design, and it is with the liner lock. Most of the time, the liner lock is a reasonable way to secure a blade in the open position. The problem is that the interface between the edge of the metal liner and the back of the blade is tiny and more subject to wear than other designs. If the edge of the liner stops at near-edge of the blade, then the wear from normal break-in and use are not an issue. But if the liner is the tinest bit too short and it rides across the blade half-way or more before it catches, then most of the tolerance for wear is lost from the start. Two of my 4 Haxbys have this problem. On one, the liner slides over so far on the blade that it almost wedges, making it hard to close the blade. On the other 2 Haxbys, the liner and blade meet correctly. Here's the thing: the tolerances I'm talking about are tiny, and unless you hold the knife up horizontally and inspect the interface of the liner and blade in good light, you won't discover whether this is a problem on your particular knife. Lots of people probably don't care, which is fine. But I would say to the Buck Knives management, this is a damn good design, and it deserves the best quality control.

Big and nice.
Wish I could give 4.5. Oh well. The bearings are good. The blade is long and the steel seems strong. Also the price was nice. I use it almost everyday at work for lunchtime. The carbonfiber gives it a premium look.

Heavy trigger pull
Not for hunting or food prep because of the difficulty cleaning out the bearings. The flip lever requires 12 to 14 pounds of pull. The liner lock works fine but they could’ve made it easier to access, though it’s easier than some and seems well designed. It’s a lightweight knife for a 3 7/8” blade length 7/8” wide, and a very comfortable carry. This knife is Bucks answer for a edc flip lock blade with a decent flat ground drop point blade on bearings mounted with a thin carbon fiber handle. The lanyard hole and right hand deep pocket carry clip shows that Buck is keeping up with the changes. Overall I like the knife and I do work it, I just wish that it flipped open easier.

Great knife Great company!!
I bought this knife in Oct 2024 and I have carried it everyday. It is sharp and works great. I love this knife. About a month ago I was clean some junk in the backyard out and somehow I set off an old smoke alarm. It was in the pile of junk and I had tossed it out there when it was going off for no reason before. I could never find where the battery was so I started my search again and when I thought I had located the cover I couldn't get it to budge. I pulled out my knife a started to pry when I broke the tip. I was heart broken. I went to the Buck Knife website and called the company to se if I could get a repair and they told me to send it in with the warranty form and $10. I told the nice lady it wasn't warranty that I had broke it doing something stupid. She told me to do it anyway. I did that day. Well today I went to my mailbox and there was a new knife from Buck Knives. Best day ever!

I thought this came with a sheath
Ok, so I thought it came with a sheath, but the goofiest thing is that one isn't offered as a "frequently bought together," item. Why not? I'd have bought it. I'm not crazy about the locking mechanism. There's too good a chance of folding it back on one's fingers. Altogether, that makes this purchase a hassle.

Buck Knives Made in China?
This is a large knife with an excellent Buck drop point blade and supposedly has the Buck lifetime warranty. It readily flips out and locks into place with a liner lock. Feels well made to close tolerances. I was surprised by two things; the knife is made in China and it is much heavier than I thought it would be with the carbon fiber handle. For some reason I thought Buck knives advertised that they are made in the USA? Update: Had the knife for awhile now. The more I handle it the more I like it. Very well made knife at a great price. Raised the rating from 3 stars to 5 stars.
