Dark and works great! I received a fresh batch -- the powder is finely milled, the dye release is fast and using it on my greying black hair with henna in a 2-step method gave a deep soft black. Just plain henna alone gives me a very bright orange on my grays that isn't flattering, so I prefer to overdye with indigo for a more natural look. I used very warm water and added sea salt to the mixture. A little went a long way. Be sure to wear gloves when dyeing and rinsing out, it will stain your hands and nails -- and your sink if you don't clean up promptly. The price is great too, comparable to the powdered indigo I would buy in Asia.

So, I'm not really 100% sure what rating to give this. The product was just as described and it arrived quickly. The quality seemed high, though I have nothing to compare it to. I used it on hair that was 80% uncolored with old colored ends with the same results throughout. I noticed increased shine and softness afterwards, and its possible it increased my curls, but hard really to tell. I enjoyed the earthy, straw smell though found it hard to remove from my hair mostly because I have so much of it. After a shampoo and conditioner treatment where I combed the conditioner through in the shower, my hair was clean and with a hint of the earthy straw smell of the product which I enjoy. So for all the main reasons many people use this product, I found it as advertised and would give it 4-5 stars. The purpose for which I bought it however, to turn grey hair blond, was a disappointment. I have only done one treatment, and had to use most of the package for my waist length hair. When I was finished, it maybe turned some of the hairs a tint of yellow. Now to be fair, what I learned is that it gets a stronger yellow with each treatment. The videos I have found online for blonds covering grey are very good. I should also mention I am a brunette who just wanted to see if it would make the grey more like blond highlights. I was disappointed. For grey coverage, I'd give it a 2-3 stars with the caveat that its supposed to get better with more applications. I myself am instead going to try using henna next time, though I may mix in some of this with it just for the above treatment effects.

Im giving it 1 for now because it never released color and has no smell. I’m not sure this is henna at all! I’m going to leave it on for about three hours and will see if it makes any difference to my hair. I’m a regular henna and indigo user so I know how henna smells and looks when it releases the color. It’s been so hard finding an honest vendor. It’s always mixed with something or it’s not henna at all! So disappointing! Update: I kept it in all night and as you can see it did not work at all. It’s so SO disappointing I keep having to return every henna I buy. Going back to Henna sooq! If it was possible to give a negative that’s what I would give it!

I suddenly developed a sensitivity to hair dye after 30 years. My hair was falling out and looked hideous!! It also started to come in white in patches. I looked like a collie dog with mange. I couldn't stand how ugly I looked. It was really, really bad. I looked at hundreds of reviews on henna and utube videos on applying it, and this henna was the best reviewed. I got it right away, then mixed it with a whole jar of medaglia D'Oro espresso powder and lemon juice, covered it and let it sit for 24 hours. I wasn't looking forward to putting that on my head, but worked the whole thing into the roots and all through my long hair. It kept glopping onto my arms and shoulders and I noticed that it was actually soothing my skin. It felt cooling, which I was surprised by. I put it all on, wrapped my hair up with a shower cap, and got through 5 hours before I had to get it out. 8 hours was my goal, but I was too impatient. I rinsed it out with tons of conditioner and it came out a beautiful renaissance red, an incredible deep red with gold highlights. It covered my grey hair completely (I have very resistant greys). I had bought some indigo powder to get it dark brown or black, but I loved this color so much that I am staying with it. My husband, who had helped me with the whole project was amazed too, he had seen every hair color over the years and said it was the most natural color I've ever had, in his opinion. I have been taking Alive vitamins, evening primrose capsules and biotin tincture to help my hair growth and heal my skin, and use Aveda Clove shampoo and conditioner, which deposits some deep clove highlights to the color giving it depth. It gave me confidence to look better, as shallow as that sounds, and it's fun to be a redhead anyway....

It didn't stain well on my henna fresh applied hair. I don't know if it was user error or not but I went back to Bigen.

I love it

This is possibly the best neutral henna I've ever used. For those complaining and giving bad reviews for it not colouring the hair, well, it's not supposed to! Neutral henna isn't always easy to find and I use it every 3 months or so to keep my naturally blonde hair in great condition. This not only softens like silk but adds that depth of deep, glossy shine that one finds in red henna products; obviously without the risk of turning blonde hair bright orange! To use, I mix with a squirt of fresh lemon juice, a couple of teaspoons of olive or argan oil, warm water and a few drops of rosemary and ylang ylang oils, both of which are beneficial to the hair and scalp. Mix to the consistency of double cream. I let sit for 20 mins while I wash my hair to remove styling products (no need to use conditioner) then apply when my hair is damp to almost dry. It can be messy so I do this over a bowl to catch & reuse any stray blobs. I then coil my hair on top of my head and wrap with cling film to stop drips and retain a gentle heat . I generally leave on for up to 3 hours so the henna does its job. This brand I found to be a lovely, fine powder and not at all gritty as some I've used. It mixes so well and also goes on well and washes out easily. It helps to have a power shower to stand under while you rinse, then shampoo and condition as normal. As you can see, my hair is super shiny and flaxen without any red, which normal henna would give. My hair looks lustrous and feels slippery - soft, like silk! I give this brand a big thumbs up and would definitely use their products again 👍❤️
