Fab little item. Given to me daughter on her recent cub scout camp.

I think this is a great tool to have, especially if you are a solo hiker/backpacker like myself. It’s a bit bigger than I imagined, but it’s very lightweight and has everything you might need in an emergency. The whistle is pretty loud, the light is quite bright, the only thing I have yet to find out is the battery life on this and if it’s possible to change at all.

I like that this device has all of the extra features: flashlight, compass, thermometer, all in one unit on a lanyard, but I was under impressed with the whistle itself. It doesn’t seem to be very loud, although the high pitch might make up for the lack of volume. I bought this to use while kayaking/paddling, and was thinking one might be handy to keep in my hiking kit as well. I’m not sure how well the whistle could be heard from a very far distance, so it seems disappointing that the main feature is not all that great.

compact and everything I expected.

I was excited to get this whistle. I did not expect it to be amazing, however the whistle function is terrible and barely works. I spent 30 min trying to make a fire with the magnifying glass (on an amazingly sunny day... No go. The mirror is ok however I would not expect anyone to see it as it is not super reflective, but it is better than nothing. The compass is serviceable as far as small liquid filled button compasses go. I did get it on sale for $9.99US however it is really not worth that. I will keep it as a fun novelty or give it to my kids to play survival, but I will not waste any space in my Bushcraft or Bugout Bags.

My only concern is the compass does not seem to be entirely accurate when compared to the compass on our newer vehicle.

There were no instructions included that would show me how to open the place to put my personal information. I would suggest that more help in learning how to use this item is included in the package with the item
