Not for a novice.
This is a great kit. It is however overpriced bike cable but it's handy to have everything you need in once purchase. Make sure your cable is surgically clean I use brake clean and clean cloth. Make sure you use liquid rosin flux as well. It will help the solder get into and around all the nooks and crannies of your cable and ferrell! Having a solder pot is handy but not nessisary. I do it with a soldering iron that's butane powered. Nice and hot. good luck!

worked great
Needed a LONG throttle cable for my VW Trike build. This kit had everything except solder for ends. If you don't know how, don't worry. There are a lot of you tube videos on it.

Little pricey, but has everything you need to make a cable
After ordering 3 different throttle cables for my mini cart, all being too short or something else wrong, I decided I needed to make my own custom throttle cable. This kit allowed me to do exactly that, and now I have a functioning throttle. I also used liquid rosin flux along with a sottering iron to fix the ends of the cable. I would recommend this kit to any first timers. Watch a few youtube videos on how to make a custom throttle, and you'll see it's not too hard.

Need custom cables for throttle applications, you've come to the right place!!
I love this kit! Why? Here's the backstory: My kids and I bought a couple go karts on CraigsList with the expectation we were going to fix them up and they could have a little fun in the yard, plus I could teach them the value and skill of working on your own vehicles and being resourceful. We needed cables for the brakes and the throttle and all we could find the local stores are the cheap, solid metal versions for lawnmowers. I searched all over Amazon, only to find an assortment of pre-made emergency brake cables for cars and trucks and everything would need modification to work in our application. I thought I was out of luck until I found this setup as well as the Venhill VWK002-BK Universal Motorcycle Shop Multi Clutch Cable Kit . We bought both and they have been wonderful! If you're buying these, make sure you have the tools to put them together! You will need: 1) A soldering iron - the ends are VERY well made and slide right over the end of the cables, but they do need to be soldered on so make sure you have a good hot iron and solder ( The solder I used was the Kester Pocket Pack Solder 60/40 0.031 0.50 oz. Tube and it's worked perfect for me) 2) You need a hacksaw - be gentle as you cut through the conduit, you don't want to smash it with side cutters! 3) belt sander, grinder or sandpaper - once you cut the conduit, sand the edge so it's smooth and burr free. I have a belt sander and tapered the edges so the ferrules would slide on easy. After that, you're good to go! We made brake cables for 2 karts, both disk brakes and they're holding up well. We also made the throttle cables and for 3 karts and all have smooth action, and appear as though they will give us a good long life!

Just what I needed.
It was just as it described. It looks as of good quality, but I haven't used it yet, because l am building a trike and am working a little at a time. Plus it was a decent price for what I needed and the only one I could find long enough for what I needed.

Wouldn’t recommend for power sports
Definitely not what I was thinking when I viewed the item but I ordered it anyways …it was a mistake mostly unless for my application only thing I used in the whole kit were a couple of the brass furrals and have since replaced them don’t recommend for power sports but may work well for mountain bikes

I was putting a throttle on a VW trike and needed a 100" cable. This kit worked great and still lots of cable left over for other projects.

This kit is just a random assortment of cable parts. None of the supplied ends would be suitable for actually making a throttle cable. The cable kit comes with inner and outer cable, that go together and 5 meters of nylon tubbing that fit nothing in the kit. The small rubber boots that are supplied have a hole diameter too large to seal with the outer cable. The larger boots have an opening that is too small to fit over any M6 nut on the top of a carburetor or onto any throttle housing. The smallest of the ferrules may solder onto the cable but the larger ferrules do not fit together and fit no known throttle assembles. Expect to purchase other parts if you wish to make a throttle cable. This is all of inferior quality. I am amazed the Venhill would allow their name to be associated with this product. Purchase your cable supplies elsewhere.
