It is an early reader level 4 book all about carnivorous plants. I read this to my daughter and she just loved it. Her favorite was the Venus Fly Trap, but she thought the other ones were cool, too. It is chuck full of great information about different kinds of insect eating plants. The illustrations are highly detailed and depict the makeup of the plants very well. I will admit that I don't have a very good way to check the facts presented in this book in any other way than to Google everything. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do that. At any rate, I am giving this book a solid 5 STARS for being interesting, informative, and very educational. Review: Fun and informative! - My son recently got some genius fly traps and is loving learning about carnivorous plants. At 5 years old, it was the perfect amount of information to keep him engaged but not bored. He's not reading it byhimself yet would be great for young readers too!

Magnificent for Curious Children
My grandson (age 5) was enthralled. He was already interested in plants, and in growing all manner of them. Finding plants that eat bugs was especially appealing to him. Luckily we have a business nearby which carries Venus Fly Traps and Pitcher Plants. The information in this book is wonderfully presented, clear, interesting, with excellent pictures. When we went to get our plants he knew more than the nursery staff and showed them the different plants in this book, and rather entertained them as well. Fascinating book, highly recommend.

Excellent book & quality info
As a parent who is an EXTREME carnivorous plant grower, I was sincerely impressed with the details & facts in this book. Excellent read for AR, or if your kids are getting into exotic plants.

Great read
My son loved this book. Some words were a challenge but overall, my first grader got through this book with minimal frustration and a great understanding on plants that eat insects.

My nearly 4 year old son adores this book!
I wasn't sure whether the age level of this book would suit him, but the information is fascinating -- he loves to pretend that he's a Venus fly try, or a sundew, and trap my finger as it flies around like a bug and lands on his hands. Teaches him a great deal about carnivorous plants, more than I've learned in 40 years until now. Even buying him a Venus fly trap for home, so that he can watch how it works and maybe trigger it to close (although I'd love a bug to actually land on it so that my son can watch the whole process). Highly recommended.

A nice book with simple text about different types of carnivorous plants, where they can be found, what they look like and how they work. A nice addition to our little library which is somewhere between reference book and story. Illustrations are lovely too.
