Transport Phenomena

This book was an absolute game-changer for my course. Not only is it priced fairly compared to other academic texts, but the content is incredibly well-organized and thorough. The explanations are clear yet detailed enough to truly master the subject. Thanks to this book, I not only gained a deep understanding of transport phenomena but also earned an A in the class! Highly recommended.

If you're buying this, you're a chemical engineering student and this is on your mandatory buy list. It's definitely not going to be a solid conversation piece or one of those books you read on a grassy knoll while contemplating life with that cute coed. No, get your butt back in the library and get to studying, you a chemical engineer. Choice A: Run, go do something else, enjoy college Choice B: Buy this, it's the transport phenomena bible of chemical engineering. Seriously, this is a great book for fluid flow (momentum transfer), mass transfer, heat transfer. Bad book for life transfer

This is arguably the greatest textbook for chemical engineering ever written. Its influence in the chemical engineering world cannot be understated. If you are unconvinced, look at the bibliography of any other chemical engineering textbook. It most likely has a reference to this one. So if you want to be a chemical engineer, you should know how to apply the approaches to problem solving in this book. That being said, this isn't an easy book to understand. It's easier than some, but it is very rigorous. It also uses some relatively advanced math. Solving Partial Differential Equations is expected in this book, so it is only suitable for an advanced undergraduate or early graduate student. Great

This book is one of the best books I've come across as an undergraduate in Chemical Engineering. It presents the subject matter very well, in a nice, concise, well thought out order and layout. In addition, the text is unexpectedly not dense for such subject matter, and is very clear. Given some time with the book, reading is no problem! It gives ample practice problems and example problems. Only fault would be that it does not cover Stream Functions and Dimensional Analysis very well and that it sometimes does not give enough/good example problems for a few subjects. Overall though, a pleasure to use for the course!

The organization of BS&L provides a coherent link and progression between the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy. I do not know of another book that is organized quite like this. This is a great reference text for transport phenomenon and for a graduate-level course. It provides a student a link between the three primary conservation equations, which is so essential to engineering.

Honestly BSL is one of the best books in all of chemical engineering. It's very helpful and easy to read. I've had so many textbooks in the past, and this has to be my favorite. Especially since transport phenomena is such a hard subject to grasp.
