I bought this after a coworker turned me on to matcha lattes. She offered to make one for me one day and it became a daily need for me, so I knew I had to get my own. This gift set was the perfect gift... for me! Now we make our matcha together everyday and share it out with others to try. The set includes tea, whisk (w/ holder), spoon and bowl which was perfect for bringing to my office so I have everything there with me and don’t even have to run to the kitchen. Everything is so dainty and nicely made that I keep it out on my desk for decoration when it’s not in use. The matcha itself is really good and I actually think it’s a little smoother than the one my coworker uses. This is definitely my preference.

For the money, you really can’t go wrong with this giant, one pound can of matcha powder! At just over a dollar an ounce, this will go a long way without erasing your bank account. It comes in a tightly sealed metal can similar to ground coffee, without a plastic bag inside the tin. I’ve tried several much more expensive matcha powders, and I’ll explain the main differences between this DNA matcha and the others… The DNA matcha powder is on the duller green side when I compare it with the bright green color of more expensive matches, and while the aroma is there, it definitely doesn’t ‘jump out’ like the others. The seal should preserve it as it was when packaged, so this blend might not use the freshest green leaves of the more expensive brands. With that in consideration, if you’re really used to the good stuff, you might be disappointed, but this matcha is still better tasting than a few of the pricier ones. There is a very slight bitterness, but I can live with that. If you like to bake with matcha, THIS is a steal. I really like matcha lattes and smoothies and tend to use double the powder in my drinks to get a thicker and stronger flavor. This size package will be perfect for me, but I expect it would get stale if you’re a casual user. I’ll update my review if I note a lot of oxidation or bitterness before It’s used up. The texture of this matcha powder is excellent. It blends without lots of little clumps, and results in a smooth, slightly gritty consistency. It froths nicely with either a traditional matcha wisk or a battery powered one.

I'm no matcha connoisseur but I love getting a Matcha tea once in awhile from a Thai place as well as eating Matcha chocolate when I can get my hands on it..with that said, wow this stuff is amazing. First thing I did was add it to some milk, ice & sugar & a blender.. it was delicious. I can't tell the difference between this and any of the $5 Matcha tea's I've purchased in the past. For the amount (16oz) and the price I paid of $19.99, I feel like this is a very fair deal and will buy again at this price. This will be a staple in my kitchen from now on. Will be making my own Matcha chocolate soon as well has hot Matcha chocolate drinks for dessert. No more waiting till I stumble upon the nearest Thai restaurant to get my fix.
