Small pack but very fine shavings. Great taste

Been using this for aging cheap IMFL whisky and the results are quite remarkable. Now my refinished whisky has more pronounced notes of oak and some vanilla from the natural vanillin in the oak wood. It has taken off some off the harsh edge of the IMFL. Since this has fine pieces of wood, and consequently a large overall surface area, you don't need a lot of quantity to get the effect. Just 25gm carefully weighed, per 1L of spirit, should be more than enough. Soak the chips in AIRTIGHT bottle for 4-5 days to extract the full flavour. Once done you can use a strainer to remove the wood and get your liquor back. I would estimate that 1 pint contains about 130-150gm of oak chips, so you can use this for conditioning around 5-6 liters of liquid total.

It's not quite sawdust, it is finely ground wood and it works great in my cold smoker. I've used it on cheese, chicken and chili and it gives a great smoky taste. The smoke taste in cheese is a little strong at first but give it a day or two to mellow and it adds a great Tex-Mex flavor to just about everything.

I have recently started cooking with Cameron's stove top smoker, and have been very happy with the results. I have used the apple chips for pork, and have combined them with alder for salmon, with excellent results. It takes just a tablespoon or two to impart a smokey flavor to food. Although it is a small container, the product will last for a long time because so little is used. The salmon has been moist, and filled with flavor each time. The pork reminds me of North Carolina BBQ which I dearly miss. Happy cooking!
