Great product & well package. Works as they should. I put them back in the box they came in after use as the foam is cut for each lid to fit snug (nice protection for in the pantry) I always re-wash before any use so repurposing the box & foam doesn’t bother me & keeps them from getting damage.

These glass weights are perfect for pickling or fermenting. They fit snugly but easily into a widemouth canning jar. The included tongs also fit in canning jars, which is a bonus since some of the tongs I already had are too wide. The glass weights are dishwasherproof. They came in a box with plastic foam cutouts, neatly and securely packaged. I decided to keep the box since it is ideal storage when the weights are not in use. One note: The picture shows a weight being used in a straight-sided canning jar. It works well in that configuration. However, if you use a different jar, like a typical quart canning jar with wider sides, the glass weight may slip, turn sideways, and plunge to the bottom, which could crack the jar. This is not an issue if you have lots of solids in the jar, and really, any glass weight like this poses the same risk. My advice is to stick to straight-sided canning jars with these excellent weights.

Perfect size and weight for wide mouth jar. Cane with the tools you need to pull iylt out of the jar and a brush to clean where the handle meets the weight. Came with a fancy box, proper foam to keep it stored and protected from breakage. It also came with pamphlet for fermentation recipes. This was thoughtfully put together with homestead fermenter in mind. Will recommend

I really liked the weights and booklet etc, , packaging was very nice but even with that, one weight was cracked. Thats why I gsve 4 stars.

Several years ago I purchased weights that are made from smooth glass and have a recessed moat on top (put another way - a raised lip around the edge with a raised cylinder in the center), and I hate them because I only a bare hand can grip them, because the design necessitates that they be dropped into the jar, and because only a bare hand can remove them from a jar... They are difficult messy! If you have been shopping for glass fermentation weights, you know which ones I'm talking about... Save yourself money and aggravation by purchasing these. There is no outer ring to restrict the grip of your fingers or tongs, the lower portion of the button is undercut so your fingers or tongs can actually grasp it, and the texture on the glass not only aids in your ability to grasp the weight, it also facilitates the upward movement of gasses so they can escape without disturbing the weight.

These work. You don't need them, but they do make things easier and its easier to avoid using any kind of plastic wrap and you don't have to go searching for the perfect glass jar or plate to use for a weight. You just plop that glass weight on the top of your new sauerkraut or such, and wow, these are really heavy and they do a good job of pushing the kraut down to be covered by liquid. The set also comes with a small bottle brush and a small pair of rubbery tipped tongs. Forget the tongs, it is easier to grab these glass weights with your clean fingers. If you have a nice straight jar the tongs would probably work, but they just made it tougher on a hipped jar I used where the weight twisted around and got stuck when I tried to use the tongs and I ended up using my fingers anyway. The small bottle brush is nice but completely unnecessary for cleaning these weights. I used it for cleaning my flower vase with the narrow neck.

They are nicely weighted, fit in jars well, and work great for fermentation. They are easy to clean. I ordered a second set to be able to ferment additional vegetables.
