The drive has a USB Micro-B port. It comes with two cables, USB-A to USB Micro-B and USB-C to USB Micro-B. So it will work with your computer if it has either a type-A or type-C USB port (Thunderbolt-3 on a Mac also uses a type-C port and you can plug this drive into one of those ports, too). The drive is a 5400rpm spinning platter drive and the enclosure runs at USB 3.0 speeds (also known as USB 3.1 gen1). The drive itself is way slower than the interface, there’s no reason to use a USB 3.1 gen2 interface or Thunderbolt with a spinning platter drive.

PS5- Yes you can also follow the same steps to format for PS5. It works I did it on mine! A: How to format for PS4: Head to Settings > Devices > USB Storage Devices and select your external hard drive. Select Format as Extended Storage and tap X. Select Next and tap X. Select Format and tap X. Select Yes and tap X. Select Okay and tap X. It showed up on mine as : PS4 external hard drive.

3 differences: 1. The size of the casing for this drive is smaller. 2. It does not have rubber stomps on the bottom to keep it from sliding. 3. The operation light is smaller. Other than that, it's the same: USB3 and NTSF.

Is there really any difference between this mac passport & their other passport drives other than being pre-formatted? or is it a gimmick?

I have been buying the preformatted for Mac WD Passport drives for several years, but the the last time they were unavailable at a reasonable price so I bought two more of the design that looked like the black casing was two separate pieces joined together, and I had no problem formatting it on my MacBook Pro in a few seconds.

Die WD My Passport for Mac (2 TB) ist für mich der ideale mobile Speicher am Mac. Sie ist gut verarbeitet, kommt ohne Netzteil aus und wird bei mir zuverlässig erkannt – anstecken und loslegen. Für eine HDD ist sie ausreichend schnell (Backups, Dateien, Fotos etc. absolut okay) und insgesamt stimmt das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis für mich richtig gut.
