Expert, but written more for them than students
A thorough, but not very student-friendly book, filled with voluminous detail about animal behavior, but lacking enough explanation to help the reader think and generalize. Too often, the authors give jargon-filled details about, say, some tiny insect and not sufficiently explain how it relates more widely to other species in the animal kingdom. Some texts are written with student readers in mind, others in mind of professors who might adopt the book for their courses. Unfortunately, this is more of the latter.

Not my favorite
A lot of useful information, I just can't stand how this book is written. It's so formal and dry. It's really hard to get through the chapters.
