Good Quality And Flexibility
I bought my Edifier R1850DB Active Bookshelf Speakers with Bluetooth go in a little home office I am setting up at the backend of the 2021 lockdown experience. I am probably going to be working from home for the rest of my career for varying amounts of time and during the lockdown it become a mandatory part of my working day to play music while I work. I needed a mid-range quality set of speakers that play music well and be flexible for my current and future needs. I am not a sound-tech expert but I listen to music a great deal so want a good quality sound by placing them either side of a large desk. I would have probably benefited from listening to different speakers in a sounds shop to find the optimum solution for me but I didn’t fancy touring lots of busy shops asking for demos. I have used various cheap and mid-range speakers all my life and wanted to move up the ladder a bit in terms of quality and flexibility. The speakers have a number of connectivity options as advertised. Bluetooth in particular is essential for my needs. They sounded a little different at first via Bluetooth when compared to my wired Dell speaker set attached to my main PC but I doubt you will ever get two speaker models that sound the same. It also has the flexibility to add a subwoofer output which I may well do one day. The flexibility box is well and truly ticked. The sound is a little lighter than my old wired speakers but I don’t see it as a problem. It plays my music well and I have no complaints about the sound. Another box ticked. The equipment itself feels like quality to me. Heavy, sturdy and compact with dials for volume and treble that feel like they will not snap off if abused or knocked. The speakers are a little heavier than expected but that just adds to the feeling of quality. So it ticks the quality box for me as well. The remote control is very small like a free 1990’s pocket calculator but it works fine. I am happy with them and may well buy a sub-woofer to add to my experience.

Excellent value for money, poor remote and "booming" bass
Great pair of speakers for the price. I use them as desktop speakers to practise DJing on, listening to various genre's of music, and watching YouTube videos. These speakers still maintain their rich quality audio no matter what you listen to. The treble and bass dials on the back make it easy to adjust the sound if perhaps the bass is a bit too "in your face", which it can be sometimes. I'm an "audio nerd", the typical user most likely wouldn't notice it. The remote is the biggest let down, I hate to be a party pooper here but the remote really doesn't live up to the quality of the speakers. It reminds me of a control you'd use to adjust your cheap RGB light strips. Aside from the remote, these speakers are excellent value for money.

Perfect - paired with a 2nd hand active subwoofer
I really like these speakers for my desk. I paired them with an old active subwoofer and the sound quality very good without the sub and amazing with the sub turned on. The sound is very well balanced for small bookshelf speakers. Volume is very acceptable and loud with no distortion and little eq changes at higher volumes. I never have them on full volume as its too loud for me in a small room, and I do like to play my music loud! My only small gripe is I have noticed that when on the optical input connected to my TV there is a pop sound through the speakers when I change the TV channel, but I believe this is may be due to the TV's audio output signal dropping and then going back on. I'd be interested if anyone else has this issue? It's not a deal breaker for me though as I mainly use these speakers for music and PC gaming through the aux inputs. Overall really really pleased

Need competitively priced, great quality, active bookshelf speakers? Look no further...
I've had the compact Marantz M-CR610 unit for as long as I can remember. I've skimped with several sets of passive bookshelf speakers being continually unhappy with the poor bass response. Not wishing to spend over £200, the search began and I arrived at these babies. They haven't disappointed and, in my view, are amongst the best on the market for this price point. With bluetooth capability I can pair them with my bluetooth record deck bypassing any form of amp altogether. They also have RCA and Optical connectivity. Second speaker connects with a cable which is approximately 4m in length. Separate volume, bass and treble calls are on the mains powered speaker...oh and the bass? Let's just say it's significant! A great buy. Being hyper critical, the mains cable isn't removable so if, like me, you wanted to send it through the back of some furniture, you are looking at a 3-pin mains plug size hole. The only other thing is that the speakers initiate at quite a loud volume and, as yet, I haven't found a way of reducing this. One or two people have experienced quality issues so, for the first time in my life, I bought the extended warranty. Worth looking into.

Edifier speakers rock!!
Just to say these speakers are well worth the money, although they appear fairly large when unpacking them, they fit either on a shelf or decent sized desk. Setting up is fairly straight forward, although the Bluetooth was a bit if a faff as it didn’t connect at first, but persevere, once they connect, sound is excellent, loud but not distorted, bass but not thumping style, if you attached a subwoofer I would imaging they’d be banging! I also connected them to a PS5, using the coax, sound once again is excellent and enhances gameplay significantly. So all in all brilliant speakers for work, play & music, for mega bass add a subwoofer, although straight out of the box, these speakers are no slouch, would recommend them 👍

Broke after 2 years.
After 2 years, the right speaker stopped sending a signal to the left. Contacted customer support who refused to offer an option to repair or replace the speaker. Speaker was decent, when it was working... Wouldn't recommend the brand to anyone!
