I have work experience in semiconductor manufacturing and they are exactly what you would expect. (check them out under a microscope for a really cool view!) If you see that it's a greyish color that's completely normal for this kind of wafer. (Just get it under a light and tilt to the right angle for display if you want to see the rainbow reflections.)

My wafer arrived well packaged and intact. The package would need to be mishandled badly to break the wafer. I also want to point out that the frames that are used to display 12-inch LP vinyl records (and picture disks) are a great choice for displaying the 12-inch wafer. Love it. All my life I have worked in the I.T business and having worked with computers all my life it's nice to have this as a souvenir.

First time I ordered, wafer and box arrived damaged and broken into many pieces. Not good. Second time I ordered, box was good but wafer was shattered. Not going to waste time on a third order.
