BowFlex 40 lb Upgrade

This is actually a smart addition to your BowFlex barbells if you own a set. The biggest mistake is NOT following the directions and letting the Base End Shrouds self adjust to the added plates; losen them "Do NOT fully tighten [the] screws. [The] Shrouds should still slide [outward to self adjust to the new plates]" Then GENTLY [Step 5] "Adjust Base End Shrouds" NOTE: Push the shrouds INWARD [snuggly]. Tighten screws. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!! You can damage the screwhead seat in the plastic shrouds. This is important to get the SMOOTHEST operation of the wedge/lock system used for these barbell plates. If you have problems loses the screws and re-adjust the Shrouds inward GENTLY but SNUGGLY against the end plate.

I very much like the comfort and fit of both the straight and bent bars. The ability to switch bar types definitely increases the utility of this product. Set up is not difficult but it takes a little dialing in to get the bars to fit snuggly and smoothly in the weight cradle. I would prefer the bars be about six inches longer (wider) to fit a standard size weight bench or rack to add a little more versatility. One must get used to carrying the bar around with weights pre set- that is, because you can only adjust the weight in the cradle, you cannot change weights on a bench or on a weight rack. That is just one disadvantage to this concept. But, otherwise, you get a lot of options from one set. Adding the 80-120lb option helps further, but at a premium, unfortunately.

Nothing much to say. Serves the purpose great. Easy installation and adds more weight to my barbell. Great product.

Great Product and when I had a problem one of their customer service reps Amber M. really helped me. They really back up their products. Can't go wrong with these added weights, especially with free shipping... I've bought at least 2, and have the straight bar maxed at 120lbs with 60lbs on the cambered bar.

Read the instructions carefully before diving in. It's simple form there but if you miss a few simple things it complicates things a lot more. My only complaint is the being in shreds when I got it. Bowflex must use better packaging.

De base, les 36 kilos des 2 barres 2080 sont insuffisants. Avec cette extension on obtient 8 plaques de poids supplémentaires à installer de part et d'autre du socle de poids, pour un total d'environ 18 kilos. En tout et pour tout on totalise un poids d'environ 54 kilos, ce qui est plutôt honorable pour des squats ou des développés-couchés. Dommage que tout cela soit si cher...
