Forge TSA Lock 2 Pack - Open Alert Indicator, Easy Read Dials, Alloy Body

These were fairly easy to set up with the FOUR digit combination I chose, so they are a bit more secure from the thief of opportunity. Obviously anyone with even a short handle set of bolt cutters can easily cut these. That isn't the point though. This isn't meant to stop a determined & prepared thief, it's to keep casual passersby honest, and stop or at least slow down the casual thief enough that they move on to an easier target.. The only negative is that the silicone caps provided for color are next to useless. The rolled up or off many times, until I threw them away. I can't say if the TSA alert buttons work, as the backpack I put these on was never searched beyond MY emptying items out at the checkpoints.

I travel with CCW, to mitigate issues with compliance, It's important to have your luggage secure, while still allowing TSA /Law Enforcement the option of NOT blowing my shaving kit up, if they needed to access my luggage. It does what it says, let's you easily see that someone has been in your bag (and that you should check everything as soon as possible), clearly shows the emblem that says"please do not break me, use your tool thingy". Setting the combinations were simple and straight forward. You ABSOLUTELY could do much worse, and experience tells me that the pittance these cost, in comparison to replacing everything or standing around waiting....it's paid for itself 5x in reduction of "The Hassle"

I bought these in December 2017. Aug 2018 was the first time I used them. I had a strange "failure." TSA opened the locks and then changed the combination before locking them open (i.e. the locks will not close and I do not have the combination). TSA just stuck the locks in the bag and the zip tied them close. This has now happened to both locks making them useless! I have requested warranty service. Will update/change when I hear from them. Update: Upgraded to 5 stars because of the lifetime warranty (and they stand behind it!).

On my last overseas trip the 3-digit combo lock on my suitcase finally gave out, so I decided to replace it with a 4-digit lock. This lock is very well built with a lot of heft. I expect it to be sturdier than the smaller 3-digit locks that are more common. I didn't bother with the color coding--I doubt that the small plastic pieces would survive. The price is good and the delivery time was super speedy.

When I received my package of two locks only one was functional (they both were in the hard plastic original covering. I tried repeatedly to get the top portion of the lock to rotate so I could program it to my 4 digit number but it would not rotate. I called the vendor and they sent me a new package which arrived within just a few days. Both locks in the second package worked as they should and I compliment the customer service they provided.
