Designed Specifically For Mower Blades ░░░ Full Demo In My Video
As someone who has been sharpening mower blades for over 20 years (I used to have a landscaping company called "The Sod Squad"), I swear by this mower blade sharpener. This is because of two reasons: the handle design is very easy to use (no risk of cutting yourself), and the actual design of the sharpener (one carbide side and one guide) is specific to mower blades. The sharpener works very well. Mower blades are not knives, so you don't need to put a bevel on both sides of the blade. You also don't need to get them razor sharp. Instead, a mower blade just has a single bevel, and this is why this sharpener is ideal. It's true that you CAN sharpen your mower blade with a file. But it's way easier and faster to just swipe the blade with this sharpener. ░░░ A FEW NOTES AFTER YEARS OF WORKING ON MOWERS ░░░ 1. If your blade is really old and beat up, you may need to take some of the dings out of it with a file. That will be determined by how many rocks and sprinkler heads that you've hit. 2. While it's tempting to try to sharpen the blade while it's still on the mower, don't. It's way, way easier to take the blade off and sharpen it. Plus, you'll do a better job. 3. If you don't have a bench vise to clamp your blade into when sharpening, just use a couple of 2x4s screwed together to hold the blade in place. 4. If you really want a well-running mower, use a blade balancer like this one: Oregon Lawn Mower Blade Balancer 42-100 . Balancing the blade is not essential for homeowners and few people do this, but it's ideal if you're mowing a lot commercially or just really into having a fine-tuned mower. 5. A razor sharp mower blade is really overkill, because you're just cutting grass. So my advice would be to not obsess about getting a perfectly sharp blade. This sharpener will get it plenty sharp. 6. Regular sharpening, like every season or even twice a season, will keep the blade nice and sharp. If you let it get too dull it'll be hard to sharpen (like after several years). So it's a nice design with the built-in brush and sharpener angle. I strongly recommend it. ................. This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.

This works, worth buying...
Good field sharpener for your tools...axe or machette. I have used it on a cheapo Harbour Freight hatchet, a Fiskars axe and a bushcraft machette....got a good edge on all the above. It seems durable, keeps your hands safe and is reasonable to carry in your tool box, etc..

Smith's 50582 Axe and Machete Sharpener
I bought this when I also purchased an axe that I intended to chop up tree limbs from yard work to dispose of in my smallish trash bin which is picked up weekly and I need to make debris as small as possible for allowing me to put my household garbage bags in also, so chopping up limbs up to an inch to even bigger, to get less than 12 inch pieces would require me to hack them on the ground, thus dulling the axe. I misplace it immediately in the over stuffed garage and it took me a month or two to find it again. I am happy with the purchase. I like it and it works well for me, for the axe and my machetes. Also, the little wire brush is cute and you can change out the carbide blades as needed. I agree with most of their claim: Smith’s - Smith’s has been a trusted name in the sharpening industry for over 125 years. Simple - Easy - Results
I was tempted to buy one of those sharpening stones that uses a drill. But then I saw a YouTube video reviewing this hand-held sharpener and that changed my mind. I ordered this along with a new mower blade thru Amazon. The new blade was painted (?) even on the cutting edges. I used this to remove the paint and put a sharp edge on the new blade in less than 5 minutes. It was very easy to see the sharpening action as it removed the paint from the blade edges. The wire brush is helpful but not super-durable, as I ordered the sharpener first to try and revive my old blade, but after wire-brushing it discovered cracks that made the blade unsafe to continue using. The bristles on the brush got bent pretty easily. Still handy to have it. Especially for the price and ease of use, I'd recommend this all day vs. those drill-mounted grinding stones.

Good For Machetes - Not Good For Axes, Mauls, Hatchets
Very good machete, or knife sharpener but does not work on mauls, chopping axes, or most hatchets, which is why I purchased this in the first place. If I am in my shop, I would sharpen my tools with a file and stone. I got this to use in the field to field dress/sharpen my axes and mauls while I am in the process of using them. I wanted something quick and easy to use. It does, however, put an awesome edge on my machetes in the filed - very quickly, and easily. The cutting blades on this sharpener are too close together to work for mauls, unless you have ground the business end of the maul down to a thin, long taper (which essentially ruins the purpose of the maul). Chopping axes and some hatchets also have a wider taper than this tool can handle.

Great Manual Lawnmower Blade Shatpener
For a hand held manual sharpener, this thing works great. It sharpens the blade at the correct angle with ease. Yah, you may have to run it along the blade 15-20 times every blade or so but looks like a professional sharpen and very little balancing issues if done evenly. Great tool for sharpening lawn mower blades. Will get another when mine shows signs of not working well. Going on year 2 and it's still doing great!

Works amazing well! I had a small hand ax that was all dinged up thanks to my children. I was able to rehabilitate the edge.
