Good for holding an led light for short range lighting of keyboard or desktop. It won't hold a complex or super precise shape or heavy weight but works well enough.

Most backlit keyboards have too many other problems to justify their costs. Most related to sketchy Bluetooth. But I still need to see my keyboard when working at night. This gooseneck extension allows me to control the amount of night light I use for my keyboard--a single LED, dark, the color I want. Enough to see my extended keyboard without hurting my eyes in the dark. The first problem with the unit, which other reviewers poiint out, is tha tthe USB accepting head is designed oddly. The bar that contacts your insert's USB pad is too near the lip of the plastic piece. As you force your USB device in, it threatens to break the connector. Not good. Another problem other reviewers mention and which I agree with is that the end that goes into your power-supply or computer is straight (180-degrees) but ought to be at a 90-degree angle. The way the lap neck is designed means you'll waste a lot of the gooseneck length adjusting the shape of the lamp out-around-and up. I wouldn't want to have to adjust this neck. I'll set it and forget it. I think the mentioned limitations would become a big deal if the unit were moved a lot or inserts were changed out a lot. If you don't need to move the neck a lot, it's firm enough to hold a light light where you need it. I'll update my review if I run into any big problems.

I don't what this cable is. It doesn't do data. But it doesn't seem to do power either. At least not all the time. I'm trying to use it to power (which it's supposed to do) a laptop cooler. But clearly this thing just doesn't want to do anything related to connecting to a computer, even if just for power. So maybe (???) it works as part of a cable chain connected to a power outlet? Clearly it's a part created for people who need an articulating cable in special circumstances. But it has no well-defined definition of the circumstances in which it will actually work. So in the end it's just a failure of part that could have been something especially useful. You should not buy this.

I purchased this item because I thought it would not only transfer power but also data, I was incorrect about the data.

I'm using the gooseneck to add some interior light to the center console of my car. The first one did not conduct power so it got returned. The second one worked but the male USB fits loosely into the USB socket. It isn't falling out and I'm not sending it back, but USB plugs are usually more secure. Middling to poor rating on this one..

To light up lower panel controls in my 23 year old auto mobile since the dash lights are burnt out. plug into cigarette lighter with a cheap usb adapter.

I can't use this cable, disorderd!

I bought three of these, to be used along with USB LED lights. They're great for throwing light on your keyboard, paperwork. If you combine them with a USB port duplicator with on-off switches, very simple to control, and your computer is already providing 5 volts anyway, so it's not like having a 120 volt lamp running.

i used it to extend a USB light, but the wiring used dimmed the LED pretty bad. also the flexibility could be stronger to hold up the light better. it just wilted a lot and got soft. otherwise it does the job, just not as quality parts it seems.

Although the product title describes it as a "30cm Flexible USB Male to Female Stand Holder Data Power Gooseneck Short Cable" this is *not* a USB data cable. It is a USB power cable only. I'm giving it a low star rating because this fact is not made plain in the product title or description.
