Easy Russian Phrase Book: Over 1500 Common Phrases For Everyday Use And Travel Review: A masterful entry guide into speaking (and understanding!) the Russian language - Lucky for us Lingo Mastery continues its mission – to make Russian more accessible to a wider population. In the Introductory Note the goal is stated well: ‘If you have finally decided to visit Russia, on of the richest countries in history and culture, then you should naturally be thinking about the words, phrases, and essentials things that a variety of everyday situations call for. This is al the more important since, unfortunately, the average level of English comprehension is not that good when compared to other European countries…’ After their success teaching Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Dutch and German now they turn to teaching Russian! And it works. To make the Russian Cyrillic alphabet accessible, transcriptions are provided in the form of transliteration and conventional signs used for transcription. A very impressive guide is provided on how to pronounce vowels and consonants (as well as their combinations) in the Russian tongue, along with a phonetics pronunciation guide of each and every word in the phrases, included after every translation. Taking it slowly, step by step with practice, Russian phrases become accessible! The technique is solid and the lessons well taught. This is a very fine introduction to Russian language that may arise when you visit Russia, appropriate for all age levels. Take the journey into a new language! Grady Harp, May 20 Review: Great book to learn Russian! - This is a great book to introduce learners to a new language. The beginning goes through the alphabet and provides the correct pronunciation. Then each phrase is given in English, Russian, and the phonetic pronunciation of the phrase in Russian. The phrases go through a large spectrum from easy to more difficult and some of the phrases are really funny like, "We should go running with the Bulls!" It was fun to look for these phrases that would actually come in handy in some situations but may not be something you would think of as normal conversation. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn Russian!!

Hilariously uncommon phrases
Some examples include, “We should go running with the bulls “, “ is this a musical or regular concert?”, “ am I under arrest?” , “my dog is depressed” and “my wife is in labor , please help!”.

Good amount of phrases & pronunciation of them in building your conversational Russian.
Phrases focus on the basics & everyday common things you might need in conversation/requests. In my mind this is a great thing as you will start to think of other applications you can use in conversations. Only confusing thing would be for absolute beginners who don't understand Russian conjugations & that is not the fault of this book. They are difficult to grasp without a decent explanation & practice. Keep this book on your phone/tablet & refer to it often. Only very minor downside for me would have been their explanation at the beginning of the book about how to phonetically say Russian sounds. They write 'ja' for yah sound & 'je' for yeh sound. It's probably they correct way to do it phonetically but as its a book seemingly for English speakers I don't think it's the easiest way to explain it. Still like the book very much.

Useful book
I love the pronunciation guide on the phrasebook, and how phrases are categorized into different chapters like colors, numbers, greetings etc. They are useful phrases to know for everyday use. Sometimes phrase choices in book are silly, though. For example, why would a reader need to know how to say the following in Russian: Is that a color TV? When did you first come to China? Have you gotten used to living in Spain by now? Some translations aren't absolutely accurate, but they get the meaning across fine, so it might not bother some people. For example: "with flying colors" definitely is not "отлично" "where it is quieter" doesn't exactly translate to "где че так шумно" (where it's not so noisy)

ok.
Not enough English translation. Also could use more grammar clarification.

I recommend it.
Of course, this should not be the only book you use to fast track your Russian learning endeavor. You'd still need to follow your Russian learning program. This book then adds an interesting layer of understanding the language through phrases. What makes this book a fun learning tool to have is that you can get it on audible as well and listen to the speaker pronouncing the words. The pronunciation guide emphasizes every word in every phrase. You can then hit pause and repeat what is being said. It's absolutely engaging.

I was not expecting this phrase book to be so thorough. There are phrases for so many different topics and situations. Many of the phrases are useful but there are phrases in there that you will probably never use. However if you are studying Russian then the point of this is for you to be eble to figure out the way the phrase is constructed so that you can start creating your own and not just relying on set phrases. Overall I think this is a great and very useful book and I would recommend any Russian learner buy it as well as the other books from Lingo Mastery.

Comodo e utile, come tutti gli altri volumi. Ormai mi sono affezionata alla collana, li ho presi tutti. Mi permettono di studiare sui mezzi pubblici, nelle sale d'attesa, ovunque sia possibile usare il mio Kindle. E la divisione degli argomenti permette di dedicarsi a una sessione lunga o corta, secondo le possibilità personali. Davvero ben fatto.

Lingo Mastery books are always a safe bet, so whenever they release a new one I am pretty sure it will not disappoint. And they have done it, once again! Great resource for increasing vocabulary, idioms and getting yourself a step closer of mastering the language. Safe to say Lingo Mastery series are the way to go for us - the self-learners.

Got this on my kindle. I barely know the Russian Alphabet, but have wanted to learn the language for a while. I just read each page of this book, over and over until I got it - then turned to the next page. It seems daunting, but just reading the page day after day (3-4times per read)…it just soaks in. Recommend 100%
