This was a replacement. Works as advertised. Nice improvements.

Piece of cake to replace a failed thermostat. You don't need a pro to do it. Just wire per instructions, turn power back on, and follow the onscreen instructions. The unit has a self-test function to make sure everything is wired correctly before you can program the schedule.

My original basic Ac0056 controller kept tripping the GFCI from the beginning. It would trip about 2 per month. The letters on the screen were too small to read. It burned out after several years of use (would not reset). This replacement worked great and was easy to install controller, program, and operate. You can see the screen and numbers from anywhere in the bathroom. There is still the infamous "click" when turning on and off, but it is no where near as loud as the original controller I had. Also, I have gone a few months now and this one has not tripped the GFCI at all! Looks modern--much better than the base Ac0056. I am very happy with this unit.

This "new" controller for all Nuheat electric floor heat mat installs is considerably better than the previous one and looks nicer, to boot. Over 5 years we had replaced each of our two older generation controllers for the same problem - failed AC-DC transformer; one failed partially (blinking controller display) and one simply rolled over and died. The transformer on this one is heavier and larger, so I hope it will last longer. This new controller is considerably simpler to install, with clear, concise instructions, and steps the installer through both self-test and programming setup in minutes. Total time for install and setup was approximately 15 minutes. I took off one star for the absolutely outrageous price. At least Amazon had the lowest price I could find, including getting it "at cost" (?) through my electrician.

We have had this installed for little over a month now and we love it. The schedule is easy to set and saves a ton of energy as it turns to very low during the day and at night we have it lower as well just not as much. It has a early start feature so that it turns on and will be at temp at the time you want it at so no guessing as to how long it takes. It will just take care of it for you! The seller was great as well as they followed up more than 2 times to confirm everything was working and that I was having no problems. Really a great experience with everything! I researched floor thermostats for almost a month and every time I ended up back at this model. Very happy! What you will save in electric bills will more than cover the higher price than the non-programmable thermostats!

Like other reviewers, the previous thermostat died (display would blink and display garbage). I think it was the SOLO model, and it lasted about 10 years. Not having any real alternatives, I decided to purchase and install this one based on the relatively positive reviews. Installation is pretty straightforward and took about 30 minutes, and it appears to be working fine. The user interface with the touch screen is a big improvement over its predecessor, and the unit is very nice. There are two more of the older ones in the house, but they still work, and while I would like to replace them, this unit is a bit pricey. But when the time comes, I will probably get another one. (or two).

Our old thermostat died and we thought we would have to hire an electrician to replace it, but the directions were clear and it was a simple project. Easy to read display and simple to program.
