Moving/Greased Lightning (DVD) (DBFE) (Multi-Title)

Vintage Richard Pryor in Moving. Quite comedic as he suffers the slings and arrows of the adventure of moving. The neighbor character and many of the events before, during and after the move were highly exaggerated, but that was the kind of broadly sketched comedy that Richard Pryor did. Fans of Pryor will certainly enjoy this; those new to him will find portions of the movie appealing. I have never felt that Pryor's language was good for young ears. Greased Lightening is a biopic about Wendell Scott, starting with his return home after WWII, his encounters with prejudice and bigotry, his drift into running moonshine, and finally his achievement of his long time goal of becoming a professional race car driver. It was also fun to see a mayor of Atlanta and a state senator in their cameo roles. I think Pryor does very well in the lead role. I very much enjoyed the movie.

Great eighties movie,very funny

I love movies from the 70's. I had never seen this movie, but I bought it because I read it was filmed in small towns of Madison, GA and Buckhead, GA where my parents and siblings all live. Fun to watch and a good story.

Classic movie

I got to watch the movie moving finally. I liked that movie from with youth. It was just like I remember. And I enjoyed it all over again.

As a huge Richard Pryor fan, I was very pleased with this double pack of films. Both are unavilable in Europe on DVD. Moving isn't really that well known- the film was resigned to late night TV. If you caught it then you were in for a treat. Moving is of course a comedy, though that doesn't mean that you will spend the entire movie laughing. What you will do is recognize what a stressful moment in your life that it is when you move. Of course to add to the comedy EVERYTHING goes wrong for Pryor and his family. This is a classic film. Well worth 4 stars. There are also cameos from Rodney Dangerfield and Dana Carvey who would go on to Wayne's World fame. Greased Lighting is the sleeper here though. Pryor with no moustache plays Wendall Scott the first black nascar driver. This is based on a true story. Scott has to face segreation and racism along the way to becoming a star. This is highly watchable and I would say is easily one of Pryor's best movies. So for these two films I can only give the best mark avaiable. What I would say though is go for the 4 dvd box set on region 1 which includes these two movies plus The Mack (Tarantino's fav film of the 70s) and also Uptown Saturday Night, another good movie.

Ich kenne den Film schon sehr lange. Ich habe ihn auf Videokassette, leider ist die Qualität jetzt sehr schlecht geworden. Hatte den Film sehr lange gesucht und jetzt gefunden, was mich sehr gefreut hat. Allerdings mußte ich feststellen das die DVD nur in Englisch ist.
