Nice texture
Nice faint, sweet taste. I add these in most things I make (stews, rice dishes, etc.). I'm vegetarian so I search for protein wherever I can find it. I wish they weren't so costly, especially with how cheap soybeans are, but I can't argue the taste.

Definitely worth it
I purchased these for the first time and didn't know what to expect. They remind me a little of tofu, they have no flavor until you add it. You can be quite creative when making these. I rehydrate these with a seasoned broth instead of just water and they are very tasty. I told my son about them and I ended up getting him them. He made popcorn chicken with them and my two grandsons ended up loving them, they are 5 and 6. For the quantity, quality and price, these are definitely worth trying.

Trying Soya for the first time
I’m conflicted about this. May have to look at some recipes to entice my kids. But size and value I’ll give an A+ Update** I’ve mastered my recipe. Once rehydrated the chunks are big so I chopped it up and went ahead with my plan. No complaints

Very good!
Very good texture. No funny smells and easy directions. Will buy again

So disappointed
I have written many reviews in my life and only one or two were ever negative, but I had to come back and warn somebody that these are so, so gross. I am not a picky eater but found the dog food smell, spongy texture, and burnt, almost plastic-y taste of these to be insurmountable. I forced them down for two meals and then threw the rest away. I hate throwing away food. This made me sad.

Great Alternative to My Usual Brand
I bought these soy protein chunks as a replacement for the brand I’ve used for years, and I’m pleasantly surprised! There’s no noticeable difference in texture or taste, and they cook up just as well and work perfectly in my recipes. Glad I gave this brand a try!

Absolutely wonderful soy chunks
These soy chunks are a bit bigger than bite size. When I prepared them, they ended up with a beef-like chew, which is terrific for me because I was looking for a beef-substitute. I first rehydrated them in boiling faux beef broth. However, while they got softer all around, they were still not completely rehydrated on the inside. So I went ahead and dumped them into my soup mixture and let them gently simmer for 15 minutes. Perfection and with the texture of stewed beef. Next I am going to use them as the meat in my No-Meat Beef Stew. These are 10 out of 10 for my purposes! Update: I made the No-Meat Beef Stew and it turned out great! Every bit as good as regular beef stew but without beef. I will definitely purchase these Rani Soya Chunks again!

Torn! because I wanted to like them
I've been looking for a way to get soy chunk alternative protein in bulk and I thought this would be it. They plump up well when boiled, but the smell is pretty bad and it wafts throughout my entire house even with the hood vent on high so I'm going to need to get a big air filter in the kitchen. The flavor is also not that great. If you boil them, rinse, squeeze out all the liquid, and then cook them in soups and curries it absorbs some of that flavor, but the general taste of the defatted soya chunks is still there and it's not pleasant if you have GERD when it comes back up. I may or may not buy them again in the future but I am glad there is at least a box this size at the lower price per ounce.
