Service Dog Training Guide: A Step-by-Step Training Program for You and Your Dog Review: For teens and inexperienced adults - Clearly written and nicely organized. It explains the value of each task, and tasks are organized as building blocks, from simple to more complicated versions that meet different goals. I will create a variant of the simple training tasks, which will be more convenient to use when I need to rehab or train rescue dogs, but it’s fine ‘as is’. A simple guide I recommend for middle school to senior adults who have limited experience in helping dogs and people communicate and keep each other happy and safe. Review: Excellent book, foolproof blueprint for service dog training! - Fantastic book - covers the training process step by step beautifully. These methods work if you are consistent in training your dog. Like everything hard, consistency is key. One piece of advice: If your dog is not at the level where they can behave in public, please don't bring them into restaurants etc. and claim they are a service dog. You are ruining the reputation of qualified service dogs and making it much harder on the handlers of future service dogs if your "service" dog makes a scene. Train them in public places outdoors like parks, outdoor malls, public squares, grocery store entryways instead. Buy this book and train your dog, you won't regret it! You will be rewarded with a well behaved, loyal companion as long as you always stick to your guns. You can reduce training session frequency as your dog learns.

Super easy to read & understand for people wondering the difference between the different types of certifications. Shows the expected prices for it, explains the industry & how things work. I have another book that much more on the topic but its for those serious about doing it all the way through. I like this book because its a good size print, easy to read, and a great start for those wondering if they should even investigate if they or a loved one can actually commit to the training or if they need to get an animal already trained. It has some ideas about what to train your dog to do for what disabilities but not fully covered! Would be great to get someone who you may think they may need a support dog & is stubborn about not having a “dog in the house” as they are work animals & NOT pets. Once you train a service animal its VERY hard for them to be a “pet” after so do you homework…PLEASE! I found for me hybrid training is the best as I dont have the stamina for the standing but need help. So I have a gal come in to fill in what I cand do. Just an idea!

Good other then smeared ink
The book it self is great after a quick ready threw it is easy to understand and my dog already knows most of the things he needs to just reuping on his training. The only thing wrong is that there was so ink smearing. I was a little bit disappointed that it was smeared makes it a little more difficult to read but other then that it works good

Service dog training book.
I really like this book. Easy read and understand. If you want to train your dog to be a service dog this is for you. I was blessed my puppy was service dog material. Not all are. My German Shepherd is now a great service dog at the age of one year. He has been at the hospital with me now 3 times and at the doctors office a half a dozen. He was perfect. I got this book after he had been working as a service dog and there are some things I missed that are minor.

Training for all ages from puppyhood. Simple clear concise instructions made in a nonjudgmental manner. Advice and suggestions for correcting problems. A good book for all humans from beginners to experienced dog owners. My puppy is doing really well from us following advice. 7 months old and walks well beside my wheelchair when “on duty”(his service dog harness is a little large but he’ll grow into it) He is already picking up dropped items and the mail.

I am a professional dog trainer and have trained Service Dogs. I found that the information is great and easy to follow. I think that novice dog handlers will find this helpful. This book is not a substitute for professional training.
