Murach's SQL Server 2019 for Developers

I have bought sets of these books multiple times to do in-house training for our developers who do not use SQL ever single day. My goal is to give them the fundamentals and make them able to search effectively when they need to learn something on their own. I found this book one of the best for that, Things are stated clearly with consistent examples. There are some things I skip over because, quite frankly, in my 35 years of doing SQL I have never used those features I also present from the chapters a different order, but the book lets you do that easily. Murach is a great company with very nice people. Every time I have contacted them with questions, or to get some powerpoint slides to go along with the books, they have been super responsive and helpful. I'm always happy to give such companies my business.

Love this book. It has lots of examples and it explains things very well. I use this in addition to my textbook for class. This is more the "learn how to code SQL". It's not very in-depth for the database side, but that's not what this book is about. I love this book, and find it a great reference book. It has almost everything I need. Easy to find things and did I mention all the examples? Yeah, that part is a total win.It doesn't use the adventureworks database, but I didn't find that a problem. In other words, I would have preferred adventureworks, but I'm certainly not taking off any stars because they use their own (which they show you how to download and install).

Purchased for a university course. Used intermittently, but was solid enough for learning the material and had many good, easy-to-follow examples.

Obviously, you can search for answers on the web, however, we all know that answers on the web are not always to be trusted. Especially with Databases...you have to be super careful! Hence, I rather grab my copy of Murach's SQL server. It's reliable, comprehensive and practical

I used this book for a SQL server college course. It is straightforward, easy to read and gives excellent examples.

The presentation this author uses is very well thought out and very helpful. While it is always good to have a teacher available to help you learn, this book is a very good resource and you can learn a lot from just using this book.NOTE: just reading will never be enough on its own. It is far better if you have access to a computer with the software (which is free) this book talks about and follow along with the examples the book goes through.

The content is good, its a required textbook for my SQL course. I'd say the content is great so far, nice layout, many examples to practice with and the concepts and review for each section are helpful.I'm taking away two stars for the book itself because the binding is already damaged within the first week of use. And the book has only been read in my desk.I initially purchased the dicital version on a popular college textbook reader/site. But digital lacks the ability to quickly and easily flip around to different pages that print gives. So, I figured I'd also buy the print edition. I just don't know how much lingerthe print edition will last before more of thepages become detached from the binding.
