Excellent!
Michael Swan needs no introduction in the English Language Teaching sphere, really. He's great at explaining the language to budding teachers and speakers alike. If you're a student at a B1 level, this should help you get very far. If you're a teacher like me, it's appearing in your citations at the end of every presentation. It's really that simple!

Solid
Comprehensive for the size of book. I personally would have preferred more depth but it's a decent start. You will need this for CELTA and it's one that you will return to if and when you start teaching, so if you only buy one book and borrow the rest, buy this one.

Just what I wanted
I had no idea what I was getting when I forked out a considerable amount for this book, as there is no preview or sample whatsoever. I only went ahead because I have Prime and decided that if it wasn't what I wanted, I would send it back. It IS what I was looking for. I tutor and write teaching resources and have constant questions and checks to make. After glancing through the book I decided it was perfect for me. Why on earth the publishers/author do not include the contents of the book and a sample at least, is just beyond me. It is such an outdated way to carry on. The world of publishing has changed massively and they are missing a trick here. People are not going to pay this much money for something they cannot see. I have enclosed photos of the contents and a few pages on their behalf so that if, like me, you don't have the first clue about what is in the book, then at least you now have an idea. You are welcome :) I can't imagine I will need another book now I have this. I will probably use it daily. It is a hefty book and will save me searching about online. The cover was damaged as Amazon packed it in a flimsy cardboard sleeve. No biggie, but some people don't like that.

Do you have a Swann ?
When I did my Trinity College Tesol course at university, my tutor recommended that we all buy a Swann. Since then - many, many years ago, it has become well used and worn. It is my "go - to" bible and I just LOVE IT. It has travelled with me around Europe and as far away as Mexico and earned me some wonderful praise.

Great reference book
I bought this book while studying for my TEFL qualification and found it incredibly useful. It fits very well with the course and provides a lot of examples and information, I haven't quite got through all of it yet! Really handy tool for learning and revising English grammar and language.

Damaged
The book is great in content but disappointed that I received a “new” copy that had damage to the front cover.
