I received my ember mug as a gift from a biz colleague and loved that I no longer had to run a half dozen 30-second nukes on my morning coffee. After a couple years, the mug stopped charging consistently. I figured out it was that the pins in the base were receding and not making contact with the mug’s charging rings.I was able to make it work for a few months by gently pulling them back out. Then that got old and I ordered a new Ember base.That was two months ago, and it’s failed already. Not only did the pins begin receding almost immediately but now one has broken off. It’s toast. I use my mug once a day and I don’t set the mug back on the charger while I’m drinking my coffee. The mug rests undisturbed on the charger 22.5 hours a day. I am also careful to make sure the mug is dry before setting it back on the base. The only reason for the fail is the product is garbage.

MY ACCIDENT - WATER DAMAGEOne day, I left my ember cup on my nightstand with unfinished coffee in it. Somehow, I accidentally knocked it over and liquid accumulated in my charging coaster. The mug stopped working and I assumed that I had broken the entire unit due to my negligence.MISSING CHARGING PINWell, I closely examined the charging coaster and noticed that one of the charging pins was missing. I suppose I wiped it away when I cleaned up the mess. So… I thought it was worth a shot to order another charging coaster to see if that fixed the problem. IT DID FIX THE PROBLEM!!! My ember mug is once again fully functional.PROBLEM FIXED!The moral of this story is: If your mug stops working, closely examine your charging coaster to see if it has sustained damage to the charging pins. A new charging coaster might be the solution to your problem!

I’ve purchased two Ember cups (with chargers) and now two ADDITIONAL chargers. The first free charger base had one of the small, spring loaded copper pins corrode and then break off. The replacement charger base now has one of the spring loaded copper pins that won’t pop up anymore - apparently a broken spring, so it’s useless. Since the cups are entirely dependent on these charger bases, this cup is now useless.UPDATE - after sending photos and info to Ember, they replaced both coasters for free! Helpful and friendly customer service - made things right!

I was lucky enough to get an Ember mug at my local thrift store, but it didn't have a charger. This one works great, and now my coffee is always hot!

I like my coffee to stay hot even when I am a slow drinker. I was given the recharger and coffee cup as a gift and didn't read the directions that you need to be very careful not to let water from the cup or anything else get on the center of the recharger plate, so my first one stopped working and I had to order a new one. The new one, now that I don't let water get on it, has been working just fine and every morning my coffee cup is recharged and my coffee stays hot.
