I had decided not to order this based on reviews. When speaking with my vet’s office a few days prior to the surgery, I asked their advice on what to use post surgery. They suggested one of the “onesie” shirts. I decided to place an order for this one and am so happy that I did! It is well made with soft, comfortable fabric. The fit is exactly as described, and the snaps placement is perfect and easy to use. After a couple of days, I removed the shirt to let the incision “get some air” and placed one of those donuts around her neck ( I had purchased it when I originally decided not to get the shirt). Woah! She went crazy trying to get it off….absolutely traumatized. I gave it a little while to see if she got used it but took it off her when she started crying. Put the shirt back on, and she immediately settled down and wanted to play. The material has not stretched out, has not ripped and her incision is protected from her attempts to get to it. Highly recommend this product. I have an 11 pound Havapoo and got a size Small. Excellent fit

A better alternative to the “cone of shame” for our dog after surgery! This "BellyGuard dog surgery recovery suit" worked exactly as we hoped for our young Malinois-mix female. We ordered Extra Large per the size-chart measurements, and the fit was just right. The fabric felt soft and breathable, and it was fairly easy to slide on and secure. Our dog seemed happy to wear it and quickly adapted to having it removed or put on again. It was well worth the money to keep her from messing with her stitches, and so much better for all of us than a massive, clunky cone. For outdoor breaks easier you must roll up the back when needed and secure it with the buttons designed into the suit. We forgot once and one time only, which is why I can confirm that the suit is machine washable. Overall, this recovery suit did the job we hoped for — it kept wounds protected, was comfortable for our dog, and was a much less stressful option compared to a traditional cone. A good choice for a more pleasant post-op experience for your best friend.

Well made, large enough front leg holes to not be binding, and easy to put on. The material is stretchy and very soft- like nice cotton pajamas. I ordered 3 different brands, and this one by far was the nicest, easiest, and most comfortable. I did have to safety pin the back by the rear leg or when she bent the back legs, the excess material got stuck over her thighs. My blue heeler is long and thin. So I ordered large to get one long enough even though she is 30 pounds. I possibly could have gone a size smaller, but her back length was 23.5 inches.

Edit: still great purchase but it’s day 7 and we’ve noticed it’s a tad short for him and it’s starting to irritate his scrotum area so we give him breaks from it and he seems happier. He does seem to lick his incision site but mainly because his scrotum is bothered I think. Keep this in mind for fit! Best fitting post surgical suit we could find for our male dogs body shape. He’s very long and lanky, not much fat on him, so sizing can be tricky. We got an XL and my only thought is that the neck is a bit snug but I’ve stretched it out and it’s starting to stretch with time. Using for post neuter surgery and it’s more comfortable for pup than the donut and cone, but he can still lick the fabric until it gets wet if we aren’t watching so if that’s the case we do pair with the donut. Our donut has a zippered cone attachment we can add if we need extra prevention but most of the time the ruff life suit is good enough as long as we’re keeping an eye on him from licking his incision. Overall, liked this much better than some of the others we tried mainly due to fit and that it covers the whole wound. When he needs to go pee or poop we just unbutton the pieces in the back and roll it up until he’s done, then we resnap it into place afterwards. Have washed it once and dried on medium heat, no noticeable shrinkage. Nice tshirt cotton material that’s breaths. Not too tight so pup is comfy but incision still has protection. Also super cute:) Would recommend! For references our pup is 11 months and weighs about 68-70lbs, Girth = 29/30” head= 20 Neck =18-19 Back waist = 24 Length = 28 Hope this helps some of you!

This surgery recovery suit was a great fit for my Havanese, who is a little longer than other small dogs. I bought a size small. The suit is 95% cotton with 5% spandex - just the right amount of stretch so that the suit doesn't rub against her sutures from being spayed. Also, I've washed it twice - I always air dry it in the dryer (no heat) and it comes out beautifully. The snaps to close the suit sit on top of her back so she can't get at them. It's easy to unsnap the suit for potty breaks. Highly recommend this recovery suit!

This thing is a lifesaver! It is well built and easy to maneuver for our girls needs! So much better than the stress the cone put on her! After reading the reviews on sizes I had determined she needed an extra large. The fit is great and the shipping was in good time. Well worth the money for the peace of mind this gives us! I would definitely recommend over and over!!

Love it! So glad I saw this on FB and tried it. She chewed up the first one so I got another in 2 days cause either worked so good. She barely moves in the cone but she's able to move and eat in this. So easy to use too. Fasten above the tail and when it's time to go potty all you have to do is un snap and snap the middle snap under theeasy. Just snap back on over the tail when finished. Easy peasy. Stretches perfectly and can be washed if needed. Keeps scar safe and able to dry so they don't lick. Snaps are sturdy and strong. True to size.

This garment is very well made — I was genuinely impressed with the finishing and overall quality. The fabric feels soft and comfortable, with a good thickness: not too heavy, not too thin. It was also easy to put on and take off, which I appreciated. The buttons were a little tricky to snap, but nothing too frustrating. I ordered a medium based on the measurements, and while it was a bit snug on my dog, it still fit well enough to use. The issue was that it left a gap in the “leg pit” area, which meant my dog could still reach and lick his surgery incision — defeating the purpose for us. His belly was well covered, though, so if the incision had only been there, this would have worked fine. Even though we didn’t end up keeping it, I thought it was a fair value for the money. I can’t speak to long-term durability, but the build quality felt solid. If you're looking for something to cover the belly post-surgery and your dog doesn't need full coverage around the legs, I'd still recommend giving it a try.
