Linehand Review: Welcome to the world of a lineman! - Accurate portrayal of an apprentice lineman's journey through the IBEW program. Although the apprenticeship program was in it's infancy when the story takes place, the program remains much the same to this day. Very entertaining with a lot of general life lessons. After reading, a person can better understand how a contractor lineman's job differs from those that were brought up through a utility company's system. After seeing some of the sacrifices, challenges, and hazards involved with this career, some people may change their opinion on thinking these highly skilled tradesmen make more money than they deserve. Very entertaining and well written, highly recommended! Review: Great Book - I bought this book for my 18bday year old son who os about to follow in his dad's footsteps and enter into the world of linework...He said it brought a lot of light that he overlooked even though its been told to him for many years...He now also has a better understanding of why dad was gone a lot...Great Book...

Great read. Honor to the Line industry.
I bought this book on Smile.Amazon for my Journeyman Lineman as a gift. I love the book and was surprised to find a $5 bill hiding between pages 110 & 111. As a Linewife and wife of an IBEW Union member I appreciate this book deeply. My grandfather was a Lineman briefly at 17 before joining the marine corps and his father and other men in their family were Linemen as well. My husband's step dad, grandfather and step dads father were all Lineman as well. I appreciate that someone would take the time to write something so relatable, I love that the story was also told wonderfully too!

A wonderful read.
Clay Brown does a wonderful job at both bringing the characters to life as well as giving the reader a sense of being there. Watching this young man transition from a place where many of us have come from, young, no real direction or goals, then finding our way through a chance encounter with someone or someplace and a career is born. If you have worked in the utility business, this story will be very familiar and bring back many memories of people places and things you've done and been through. If you've never worked in this business, you will enjoy a great story and learn much about those wires and the men and women who build and maintain them and gain an instant connection to the lives described in this story.

The memories were iconic. The names were different, but they were the same guys. Loved the book. Will pass it on to some of my old line buddies.

I worked 50 yrs in the power line business. Linehand was very real portrait of the way it was in the Line Trade in the pre bucket truck era. Very Good!
