I have not yet begun reading this book, but I felt compelled to share why acquiring it means so much to me. Ash-Shifāʾ by Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ is one of the most highly regarded and enduring works in Islamic scholarship on the life, character, and rank of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. For centuries, it has been read, taught, and cherished across the Muslim world as a source of love, reverence, and deeper understanding of who the Prophet truly was. Owning this book feels like welcoming a lifelong companion. I intend to read it slowly and reflectively over the holidays, and to keep it close for the rest of my life alongside the Holy Qur’an. Even before opening it, there is a sense of weight and responsibility, knowing that this is not merely a biography, but a work that aims to cultivate proper adab, respect, and love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I am grateful that this classic has been made accessible in English through a respected translation, and I look forward to benefiting from it for many years to come.
