Ballpoint Pen 849 Black Code

Own a few 849’s now and recently added the black code to the roster, a great pen that feels well made and writes beautifully. If you like 849’s you’ll like this one, the Matt black coating is thin and sleek and the mechanism is solid but quiet (good for idle pen clicking without winding up the office). The new black code is competing for my favourite pen with the special edition silver/metal 849 which I’ve had for several years now.

Usual Caran d'Ache quality, super style and great looks. What's not to like?!

This pen is my daily driver so to speak. Really comfortable and pleasant to use.

The pen is well made and generally writes okay, I think the current price of £25 is more appropriate than the retail of £40. The pen body, clip and button are metal and have a perfect black finish that looks very nice. However the finish can be a little on the slippery side. I have big hands and as this pen is quite small, so its not the most comfortable pen ever. However it is extremely light which is quite nice. The click mechanism is completely un-satisfying. There's no click at all and you have to push the button almost flush with the top of the pen to get it to engage. And because of this if you don't depress the button far enough it will sometimes half engage and pop out. Not really an issue for use. But I know some people like to know what the click is like! Oh and it also takes an expensive proprietary refill. Summary. Buy this pen if you adore the classy look and Matt black finish. Don't buy it if you want a satisfying clicker and don't like small pens.

Quality of the pen is superb. I ordered the matte black option; the finish is understated, whilst being easy to hold and write with. Pen flows really nicely on paper. The supplied case is well designed and a nice addition by itself.

カランダッシュ3本目です。 本体だけではなく、ケースもブラックで驚かされました。 書き心地、ゴリアット芯について 今更私が書くこともありませんのでデザインについてだけ書かせて頂くと 程よい重量感があり、握りやすく 黒で統一されたデザインは見た目にも美しい。 専用のブラックケースを開けた時に、正直心がトキメキました。 使わない時に、飾っておくだけでも楽しめる一品です。 デザインというのは、人それぞれの好みでしょうが 私はカランダッシュのデザインや色合い、使い勝手が大好きでしたので これからも買い続けてしまうかもしれません（笑） あまり参考にならない意見かもしれませんが、 現時点でAmazonで3,700円で買えるボールペンの中ではコスパとしては良い方だと思いますよ！

The ink doesn't dry up like the gel based chinese junk mostly sold these days. Very lightweight, precise and elegant. The ink refills is solid metal swiss made.
