Best projector for its price range! But you must set the picture up right..settings below
Hi - i have tried them all! from $80 to 1500 projectors including a couple of Optomas and Benq. UHD50x is the one I am keeping! Make sure to use a quality projector screen! The effect is simply amazing. To maximize the quality of your pic - use the settings below as it really makes a difference (thanks to a poster/PSINERD on reddit where i got it from) A couple of quick things - it is NOT 240HZ unless you connect to a PC and you wont even get 4k@120HZ with a standard connection like firestick or chromecast. Beyond that it works really well - and super fun to watch movies in UHD! -------------------- Main Menu Display Mode: HDR should be selected Wall color: Off (you are using a proper screen, no?) Enhanced gaming: off Aspect ratio: auto Edge mask, Digital zoom, keystone, Image shift all should ideally be off or zero for the best image quality. Image Settings Sub-menu Brightness: 0 Contrast: 50 Sharpness: 15 Color: 8 Tint: 0 Gamma: Graphics Ultra detail: off Dynamic black: off (causes annoying brightness changes) Dynamic Range Sub-sub-menu HDR/HLG: auto HDR Picture Mode: Standard or detail (to taste--may need to play with this one a bit, but I find that bright washes out the highlights) Color Settings Sub-sub menu Brilliant Color: 5 Color temperature: D75 (or to taste. D65 is tOo yellow/orange for me and D93 is too blue.) Color gamut: HDTV CMS: all defaults, RGB Gain/bias: all defaults Color space: auto

Great projector picture ruined by white spots
I sold my Optoma UHD60 to "upgrade" to this model November 26, 2021. I wanted to experience 120hz on my Xbox and put an end to the rainbow effect my 60 had. This projector had a gorgeous picture that made gaming feel even more next gen. That is, until I got my first white dot. I called Optoma June 13th and opened a case for repair. I would have to pay $100 to ship it in. That sucks, but I would say the cost. Before I agreed, the two added a caveat; Optoma is struggling to find parts, so my projector could be sitting in a repair facility for months. They won't swap it even though it is still under a year-long warranty, so they urged me to keep it until I'm called that parts are in. Come July, I got my second dot. As of this post, I have three. These bright white dots are an eyesore and a distraction, especially in dark scenes. Once a DMD chip begins to fail, it will continue until white dots engulf the screen. My projector didn't make it 6 months. This could be real bad by the anniversary of the projector. What will be of my warranty then? Customer service has been missing in action. I'm really regretting this purchase. These dots really take away from the experience.

Great projector.
Love the picture -- amazing, bright and sharp picture for HD and 4K UHD content. HDR is a bit lacking in terms of picture quality, but seems to be the case with a lot of the 4K projectors at this point in time. Very forgiving in terms of installation, due to considerable throw range and generous vertical lens shift range and keystone options. Even in ECO mode, the image pops and is plenty bright even with ambient light in the room. Video games look amazingly bright and colors vivid. Overall, highly recommend! One tip (I found out this the hard way): i was getting weird haloes/glare around players during sports viewing and it was because I had the vertical lens shift fully engaged to limit to move image up (because i was having trouble with my ceiling mount in keeping the projector image high enough. Once I fixed the mount, and moved vertical lens shift back to more in the middle, halo/glare effect went away. Likely lens aberration.

Great projector with a number of compromises
This is a great projector if you use it for a mix of video games and movies. If you are only interested in movies, there are better choices in this price range. Pros: * Very bright picture * 4K adds a lot of detail making the front row of my theater premium seats (my old Panasonic 1080P) looked very pixelated in the front row. * Fast response time with video games, XBOX One X plays well * Bright colors Cons: *Lack of horizontal lens shift (My old Panasonic had this). Depending on your ceiling studs you may have to go in the attic and add support (I had to additional support in the attic). * Leaks a lot of light. This is not an issue for me because I using a ceiling mount. * Struggles with shades of grey in night scenes in movies. Contrast is excellent in brighter scenes. * Doesn't support 4K 120HZ HDMI technology (latest XBOX and Play Station). Does work with computers at 120 HZ and 4K and 204HZ in 1080p. If you aware of the benefits and accept the limitations of this projector you will be very happy. I am very happy with it, but the cons result 4 stars instead of 5 stars.

Product was defective a month after arrival. Blurry screen and dead pixels accumulated month after month. Previous optomas I had bought locally had no issues. Sellers are Cleary getting defective wares and selling them on Amazon. The sellers will not take back the item because the repair requires shipment overseas. Avoid at all costs

I had Optoma 1080 projector and looking for a 4K projector. I always appreciate Optoma picture qiliaty and decided to land for Optoma UHD50x for 4K. The delivery was fast. I am really impressed by the pictures quality. Its clear and cresipy. The 4K contents look really amazing. However, the 240Hz is limited to computer connection only. I tested PS4 on it and games run really well except 240Hz. To enjoy the full swing, the room should be dark as i tested. high quality HDMI cable should be used. I would recommend this projector to everyone who is currently looking an upgrade from 1080 to 4k. This one of the best quality projector available in the market as of now.

This is my 4th home theater projector over the last 20 years - and also the cheapest I’ve ever bought and it is PHENOMENAL! It’s bright enough to enjoy with the lights on - but with the lights off, it’s almost unbelievably sharp and clear - even when projected onto a normal wall! My son plays PS5 games on this and had no issues whatsoever with latency. I can’t believe how good this product is!!!
