When God was man

I thoroughly enjoyed JB Phillips' perspective, the way he describes God's character as one and the same with what Jesus demonstrated while here living among us as a human. God is Love, and Jesus showed us what that means, and said that if we've seen him, we have also seen God the Father. At great expense and sacrifice, the trinity worked to gain our trust and cooperation, so we could be healed from our terminal disease of selfish sinfulness. I have a new appreciation for JB Phillips and his insights, no doubt gained in great part through the work he did in translating much of the New Testament.

It is the simple things that often have the most power, often much learning can obscure the beauty and power of truth. This book is small with only 62 pages but it reminds you of when you first fell in love with Jesus. It has that feeling of the familiar and the profound. This is a seminal book. Very small and quite concise. I am buying several while they are available to share with Christian Brothers and Sisters. JB Phillips is the "stealth" champion of the gospel in modern times and this is his jewel. Lays bare the heart and mind of our LOVING God. I cannot recommend any other book above this save the Word of God! Needs to go to reprint and mass circulation. Please get a copy and read with a prayer on your lips that you will see the TRUTH of who Jesus IS and why he came.
