Ernie Ball Flat Ribbon Patch Cable (24in, Black) - A Review
Ernie Ball has a solid reputation for quality in the guitar world, and their flat ribbon patch cables generally live up to that standard. This 24-inch black version (P06228) is a decent option for connecting your pedals on a tight board. Here's a breakdown of the pros and cons: Pros: Space Saving: The flat ribbon design is the key selling point. It allows for much tighter pedal spacing compared to traditional bulky cables, maximizing real estate on your pedalboard. This is especially crucial for smaller boards. Clean Look: The black color and slim profile contribute to a cleaner, more organized pedalboard aesthetic. Decent Signal Quality: While not the absolute best in terms of signal integrity compared to super high-end cables, the Ernie Ball patch cables generally provide a clear signal with minimal tone loss, especially over shorter distances like this 24-inch version. Durable Construction (Generally): Ernie Ball typically uses quality materials, and these cables feel relatively robust. The molded connectors seem well-attached. (However, see the cons below). Reasonably Priced: These cables are often available at a competitive price point, making them a good value for the space-saving benefits they offer. Cons: Durability Concerns (Potentially): While the materials seem decent, some users have reported issues with the connectors eventually wearing out or becoming loose over time, especially with frequent bending and manipulation. This is a common complaint with flat ribbon cables in general, as the thin design can be more susceptible to stress. Signal Degradation (Possible): While decent, the signal isn't flawless. Demanding players with highly sensitive ears might notice a slight loss of high frequencies compared to more premium cables. Stiffness: Due to the flat ribbon design, these cables can be somewhat stiff, which can make routing them in complex configurations a bit challenging. Overall: The Ernie Ball Flat Ribbon Patch Cable (24in, Black - P06228) is a solid choice for guitarists looking to maximize space on their pedalboards. The flat design is a major advantage, and the signal quality is generally good enough for most players. However, be aware of the potential durability concerns and the slight stiffness of the cable. For the price, it's a good option, but if you're seeking absolute top-tier signal clarity and rock-solid durability, you might want to explore more premium (and often more expensive) alternatives. Final Verdict: Good for maximizing space and a clean look, but be mindful of potential durability issues.

Fantastic cables for the price
I bought these cables as they were very well rated by others, and I have to agree with them. These are great patch cables. They are transparent and do not color my tone, they are super elastic/flexible and make wiring a pedalboard very easy. The orange/red finish also looks really sharp in person. I was afraid of replacing my George L and Monster Rock patch cables as I am fond of their tone compared to other cables that I have tried, but these are great and allow me to fit more pedals because of how thin and low-profile their plugs are. I bought the multi-pack version and for the price, you get a lot of various sizes to wire your pedalboard. They also have a lifetime guarantee which is reassuring as patch cables are usually more delicate than a standard guitar cable and you don't know how rugged they are until you use them for some time. So far, so good.

The best patch cables I’ve ever had!
Very high quality patch cables for my pedalboard and I love that they’re flat. The ends are metal and well constructed which is a plus! Buy these, you won’t be sorry!

Excellent! EB really thought of everything.
This is an update to my previous 5 star rating. Very versatile!!! I have changed my pedal board over several times in the past year and every single time this multi-pack has come through for me. I have honestly been quite surprised. This pack has every length that I have needed as I have swapped pedals around and edited pedal choices. The patches are super flexible and there has been no ambient or unintentional noise! I would definitely purchase this again - I just haven't needed to yet! I'm sure the day is coming; especially if I start adding risers!

Super low profile
Connection quality seems good. They feel so dainty but the quality seems nice. The first time I've used the cable that's this slim on the pedal board. The two footers are nice. Overall good value. Good function.

Quiet, Compact, Rugged and the 2 footers can be Shortened (modded)
I've taken connectors off to shorten the 2 footers and it's easy to do as the connector can be pried off with a flat screwdriver easily if you start at the cable entrance and then move to the sides when a gap opens up. The two sides of the connector are only pinned to each other so there is only a pressure fit and no locking mechanism. You will need a good soldering iron, a small vise, wire strippers, etc but if you are handy with these tools and take your time then it's a fairly easy mod to do. The biggest weakness to the cable that I can see is that there isn't much happening for strain relief. The cable is somewhat pressure fitted into the connector (easily seen with the connector taken apart). I wouldn't put any strain or try to stretch the cable at all. If you leave some slack, it will be just fine. I do recommend these as they are the best quality 'Flat' style patch cable/connectors that I have tried. Are they Mogami cable with Neutrix Connectors good - no, but they are quite easily acceptable especially when price and space are a concern.
