Real Tama parts for real Tama pedals
These are in fact Tama cobra coils. Replaced my speed cobra ones with these and they work and fit just right. Be careful trying to take the other screw springs off I tried using a screwdriver, then a drill. The screws stripped out and I had to drill thru them to get them out. Thankfully the new springs come with new screws as well!

Get a new one if yours is missing or damaged!
Worked just way I expected! I did use a paper hole punch to cut out round ends on included felt.

Improving An Iron Cobra 600 Series Single Bass Pedal
I bought a Cobra Coil in an attempt to milk a bit more trickery out of my Iron Cobra 600 Series single bass pedal, so I don't understand reviewer Rich's lament "Only works with the speed cobra pedal." because it works perfectly well with my Iron Cobra. Anyway, if the stabilizing plate (bottom) on your bass pedal has two holes that are two inches apart (see photo), then a Cobra Coil should be usable. It's also adjustable, with a single drum key bolt, sliding forward or backwards, so the tension changes noticeably. Highly recommended if it seems like you've maxed out your single pedal that is able to take a Cobra Coil. Actually, I just realized that this could be used on any pedal with a stabilizing plate by simply drilling two holes two inches apart. Good luck!

They work only if…
I bought these for my iron cobra 600 dbl pedals. They attached to the floor plate just fine. However, they work only if you get a little crazy on the pedal settings. The foot pedal sits pretty high above the cobra coil even with the coil at max compression. So when you push the pedal at factory settings, they barely compress the coil rendering them basically useless. Now how I set my pedals. First I replaced the standard beater holder on the master pedal to the vari pitch holder, allowing me to set the footplate independent of the beater (oddly which is how the slave pedal was already setup to do from Tama, don’t understand why the slave has the ability but the master did not until I made that improvement). Second, having both pedals fully adjustable, I set the foot plate much lower than factory setting allowing the pedals to rest about an 1/8” above the coil (still with coil at max compression setting). I am fine with this with my size 12 foot trying to use the ankle technique in combination with the heel up technique. I also set the beaters to an angle greater than 45 degrees off the bass drum head (e bass drum) to allow a little more travel, rebound, and most of all, to actually use the coil. The weird thing about the coil is the long piece of hard felt inside the actual spring. I guess it’s for sound dampening or rigidity but either way, most of the coil won’t even compress because of it and trying to remove it may stretch the coil and screw it up. I had also stretched the coil a little overall to make it “slightly longer” making it possibly better. I can feel the action of the coil but it isn’t really dramatic. It is a very subtle difference but with the main springs adjusted correctly I can play the bass drum a little faster but it isn’t a huge improvement on performance. They are okay but to be honest, taping a cheap 3/8” spring loaded unistrut nut to the floor plate, pointing the spring upward after bending it at an angle to land flat on the foot pedal when compressed works as good and maybe even better. It can adjusted by simply taping closer or farther away from the heel plate. I have these coils and they do work for my settings. Using standard settings these coils are really just a useless wasted expense and not worth the bother. If you want the extra support they provide, use the strut nuts upside down taped to the floor plate with double side tape. It’s MUCH cheaper and actually works. Also, if you have a heavy foot, don’t expect much from these coils. They are not going to assist much in supporting your weight or stomp approach. They help me with the ankle technique but barely do much for the heel up method. Heel down they seem to work decent at my settings but will suck at factory settings. Light and little feet at my settings should see the most benefit. I am discussing this based on the mechanical aspects of these coils. It’s still all about how things feel but I honestly do not feel them whatsoever at the “normal” settings while using the cool max settings. To me it just seems mostly to be a gimmick. They are standard on the speed cobras and iron cobra 900. I don’t know what is different with those two models from my 600 and maybe that’s why they are not sold as part of the 600 model. You decide and try but save the packaging because theirs a real good chance you’ll be sending them back for a refund. In the meantime, I am keeping my two spring loaded strut nuts in case I change settings and need something that works.

Great upgrade for my TAMA Iron Cobra 600
This is a very cheap upgrade to elevate the quality of your TAMA Iron Cobra 600. I got a pair of these for my pedals that I’ve using for over 5 years. It’s possible to feel the improvement in the feedback and speed at the first step. No need to spend money with way over expensive pedal, these TAMA Iron Cobra Coils are a very cheap way to improve your existing pedals. When stepping in, it’s possible to feel there is a need energy pushing your feet back to the original position, removing good part of the pressure from the original aside coil. Very happy with “my new pedal”!!!
