An Excellent Decently Priced CO Alarm
I don’t know about the rest of you folks, but I find it really helpful the many QUALITY REVIEWS I read about products on Amazon. That is what keeps me writing well-thought out reviews, as your many QUALITY REVIEWS have been of GREAT BENEFIT to me again & again. Thank you. Now for my Review Of the compact KIDDE CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM that comes with a 7 year warranty. I was quite wary (i.e. unsure) about getting another Carbon Monoxide Alarm, as many reviews of Carbon Monoxide were either EXCELLENT, GLOWING REPORTS or very negative ones. So I decided to read a lot of the Carbon Monoxide Alarm Reviews and ANALYSE the results. (i.e. break down my understanding of what they all meant) The KIDDE Carbon Monoxide Alarm seemed to get a mix of both positive and negative feedback. However, having carefully considered its feedback, I decided it was worth considering. The Compact KIDDE CARBON MONOXIDE Alarm is indeed very compact weighing approx 200g (0.44 ounces) and its dimensions being Width * Length * Thickness ➡️ 7 * 12 * 3 cm ➡️ 2.76 * 4.72 * 1.18 inches. It hardly takes up any space and although it comes with screws to affix it on a wall or ceiling, it has a ready-made slot on the back of the alarm to enable you to hang it on a hook or nail that’s partly recessed into a wall. The Carbon Monoxide Alarm comes with instructions and Three “AA“ Size Batteries. It’s really easy to remove the cover to the battery compartment on the back of the Alarm. You just gently slide it down in the direction of the arrow and then put in the 3 * AA Batteries and then slide the compartment cover back on carefully. It’s important to note of course that it’s the actual Alarm Unit that comes with the 7 Year Warranty and NOT the batteries! You’ll probably need to change the batteries once every 7months to a year depending on HOW OFTEN the Carbon Monoxide Alarm sounds. [I say this as I’ve had a few KIDDE Carbon Monoxide Alarms in the past with at least two at any one time. Also, I believe that after about 5.5years or so, depending on HOW FREQUENTLY the Alarm goes off to alert you, the unit will need to be replaced as the CO Sensor inside the unit stops working!]. And VERY IMPORTANT: WHEN YOU FIRST PUT IN THE BATTERIES, THE CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM MAKES TEN RAPID BEEPS, WHICH STARTLED ME A BIT. I should have read the instructions that came with the unit more carefully. You’re also advised to write in the date ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT, the date you installed the Carbon Monoxide Alarm & the batteries, as both the Unit and the batteries have a LIMITED LIFE SPAN. I installed mine on Sunday 26 July 2020 and wrote that date on the Carbon Monoxide Unit. I think it would be easier to write down the installation date with a marker pen. AND REMEMBER to TEST the unit AT LEAST once a week and PREPARE for the loud 85 Decibel Screeching Sound. Some Carbon Monoxide Alarm Units require you to vacuum their insides once every two to three months. I LIKE IT THAT THIS UNIT DOES NOT APPEAR TO REQUIRE THIS! Some people have complained about their own Carbon Monoxide Alarms received being manufactured a few years before they received them. The two I received were MANUFACTURED ON NOVEMBER 9 2019. Thanks for Reading and Hope you’ve Found MY REVIEW HELPFUL...

Worked well but shorter than advertised lifespan
Seemingly worked well for a while, at least compared to our other alarm installed where the boiler is. Unfortunately, it failed before reaching expected end of life after about 5.5 years.

This is a nifty little gadget that could just safe a life
I had the plumber round the other day to look at my boiler. The hot water hasn't been great recently and I was fed up of having lukewarm showers and baths. My boiler is quite old, maybe 20 years. It was already old when I moved into my house 9 years ago so I wasn't too surprised when the plumber read the last rights for my gas boiler and told me it was beyond the stage that it would be economical to repair and it was going to cost many spondoolies to get a new one. Oh dear I thought. He also pointed out that I did not have a carbon monoxide monitor. I told him that there used to be one in the house but I threw it out because it kept beeping at me. He gave me a strange sideways looks and then told me in no uncertain terms that I really should have one because it could save my life one day. I pointed out that the old one have beeped because the batteries was going flat rather than any concerns about noxious emissions but he insisted that this was not a satisfactory state of affairs and he would not settle until I promised to purchase one immediately. Apparently they sell these in DIY stores and other such places but it is a bit of a chew to drive to the other side of town to spend twenty minutes trying to find the right aisle before asking someone in an orange apron only to be told they are on aisle 37 and you are on aisle 2 and then have to queue behind burly looking people with plaster splattered overalls with their over laden trolleys just to pay for your single item. I elected to go on line and this little beauty caught my eye immediately. A couple of clicks on my phone and, job done, as they say. It arrived the next day. I put the batteries in and it works straight away. I have put it right next to my gas boiler and I can now sleep at night in knowledge that it will wake me up if there is either a carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide emittance. It is made in China.

No installarion necessary
I was advised to install a carbon monoxide detector when I had my CH boiler serviced. I chose this one because it appeared to do all I needed and was relatively inexpensive. It arrived very quickly, the instructions were clear and it didn't need any fixing as it could be placed on a set of bookshelves. There are however fixings to enable it to be fixed to a wall if required. Batteries were supplied so we were up and running in no time. There is a test button to check that the alarm is functioning and that the batteries are OK which I have tried a couple of times. The alarm sound is sufficiently loud and piercing as to be effective although I hope not to hear it again until its nest test! Would thoroughly recommend.
