Comes with black bit guards installed. Review: Perfect for my sensitive horse - I tried this bit as an option for my new horse who was sold under "he only likes hackamore bits". However, a typical hackamore didn't provide enough steerability, and I was looking for something with a mouthpiece he could tolerate. So far so good!!
